Australia broadcast the three shows over the weekend of Friday 25th to Sunday 27th May. Although the shows were not screened live, the majority of Australians stay away from the internet and news channels to avoid finding out the results prior to the shows being aired.

Broadcaster SBS also avoid putting any spoilers on their website, so that fans can watch as though the shows are live without finding out the results first.

The resuls of the Australian televote for the Final are (number of televotes):-

Sweden 72,186
Russia 55,270
Ireland 50,314
Italy 36,130

Cyprus 27,538
Germany 24,958
Greece 22,328

So, Australia agreed with Europe on the top two countries being Sweden and Russia, but there were major differences between some of the other results.

Jedward of Ireland fared much better with the Australian vote, as did Soluna Samay of Denmark and Ivi Adamou of Cyprus.

Estonia, Albania and Azerbaijan all finished in the top six of the Eurovision Song Contest, however they all finished in the bottom five in the Australian televote.

It would be interesting to know how an Australian jury of experts would rank these songs... I guess some results would be quite different

What's this fuss about Australian voting? It's one country, and with even less inhabitants than some of the participating countries... It's like we had the 'rest of the world' voting with Australia's televote's results.

i am not a "eurofan".. so my taste is a little different..

From the songs that passed through the finals I think that Italy should have won. I also liked Cyprus (I love Ivi!) and Albania (great voice, bad hairdo). Turkey's song was interesting. I didn't like Sweden or Russia at all.

From the other songs, I liked Montenegro and Israel..

If I understood correctly then Euphoria set a new Estonian televoting record. Hopefully we'll get more details tonight.

I can't believe how arrogant and mean some people are here, really! This is Eurovision. Criticize the organization, hosting, hosts... That's ok and those are what we should talk about. Some of you are going too far. Did you see any wrong treatment to the people who went there for Eurovision? What i saw is they showed great hospitality and did their best to please the guests. You are being rude looking down on a nation. You know what, dear western, flawless friends, if something don't work in your organization, you will be laughed so hard but i hope everything will go well for you. Good luck! ;)

yes infact a norwegian journalist of iranian decent was made to strip down naked at an airport and they made him step on iranian flag, norway almost pulled out of the competition. this man was a part of the official norwegian eurovision delegation

You can hate my country, you can abuse my nation, you can say whatever you want....We lived, are living and keep on living! Statın sonu!

I don't hate Azerbaijan!!! On the contrary, I really want to and going to visit Azerbaijan. Originally due to my interest in history, but now it's even stronger after ESC. Through Eurovision we hear about the nice and polite Azeri people and we get impressed by the beautiful pictures. When we hear about Human rights violations via the news and the domestic problems troubling the women Loreen met, we feel compassion for the Azeri people, our care and thought for Azerbaijan rises. In this way you've gained our solidarity.

We may not love your president, but frankly, what do care about him? xwavexhug

Apparently, the news in Spain said, that Spain got voted the higher by the Jury vote!

That's not a surprise... French song in 2009 was considerably stronger and ended very low with televoters. And so I only wonder why some people keep criticizing jury's role in ESC. Oh wait, because their own favourites didn't do as well as they wanted or others they didn't like finished high in the scoringboard

I heard this story about a disabled child who lives in Russia who won a competition on writing the best essay about Azerbaijan and she went to Baku for the Eurovision final free of charge. Now, how nice is this? And how come this story wasn't published in the papers? The media never talks about the good things. Its always the bad stuff.

That's a sweet story xheart and I absolutely agree with your opinion!

I think "Absence of major human rights" is pretty much where we draw the line of "This is a good country" and "This country sucks". It doesn't matter if the country is rick as heck and most people's lives are great. An absence of most major human rights is unacceptable.
