Of course we can fail. We are only human!

Just keep saying those magic words. SAGAPO!

S-A-G-A-P-O ;)

SAGAPO, SAGAPO, SAGAPO, I AGAPI AFTI ME PETHAINEI, SAGAPO, SAGAPO, SAGAPO, I AGAPI AFTI M'ANASTAINEI!
(It's a greek song that speaks of how love can kill you and resurrect you at the same time. Don't bother, it just hit me...

I love you too Scotland, from the bottom of my heart! ;)

LOL, it's so funny how most people never notice why SAGAPO is one of the most special ESC tracks ever.

It was too out of this world for humans to understand.

Maybe Ripley and a couple of aliens and that cockroach with the Edgar suit could have appreciated it more!

PS Georgia gave Belarus 12...

That was the reason Belarus didn't end up in last place. U.K. must be pissed
These were the 12 points I enjoyed most! I predicted that UK would end last and with these 12 points my prediction came true!!

No, not exactly. But I guess most people don't listen to a song carefully enough.

I'll give you a hint; the music/instrumental of the song.

Was it just a dream or did Russia really get 12 or 10 points from another country today?
My subconscious is talking with me

Don't want to say bad things, but during the whole performance of russia I was only: WTF?

A beautiful night. And I am very euphoric, so ... I love you all! :D
It was the most exciting ESC finale I can imagine and there have been soo many good musicians! LOVE IT! And I think that the ESC next year in Germany will be very big and awesome :D

Thank you Norway! Thank everyone who voted for Germany!
After 28 years we won again. The second time. I'm so happy, I'm still crying! xhug

Russia got 12 points from Belarus and 10 points from Israel, Estonia, Moldova and Ukraine.

Re-watching the contest and remembering how brilliant some of Graham Norton's one-liners were. "I don't drink anything before the contest. Like an Icelandic wallet, I'm empty"

The only thing I'm still knowing about the russian song was the lyric line with something like "I am looking at your photo" ... but it was a painting
The first time when I've seen some pics from the rehearsals I thought: Goood! Russia, you really can't your song by heart?
Thought it was the lyric paper - chrm chrm.

Well, obviously some Russians living abroad vote for their country every year.

Regarding S.A.G.A.P.O it is better than I remember it to be, it was just really weird to watch on that night.
You do the etnic entries of these last few years better than most others genres honestly.

That is not only the case for Russia, it is like that for a few other countries as well.

This was it was just Russia who got a good position ONLY with the neighbours points + Israel + some random 4 points from Portugal.

And it qualified in a similar way. Shame!

The thing is that there are so many Russians in other countries (mostly because the USSR I guess) so they actually have a big influence in the voting. Let's be honest, even if Greece gets 12 from Cyprus or some Yugoslavian country from another one, they might still come last and it definitely doesn't guarantee a high placing (like Belarus got 12 this year and ended up second last). But Russia has more than one or two countries regularly voting for them.

Sweden gave no points to Greece this year despite there being alot of greeks and people with greek heritage here so it isn't always like that. But we did give points to other countried that have plenty of people here this year so it evens out.

I honestly don't understand how Russia did so well! That was a shame! Next year they can send a toilet seat and mother Russia will get 12 points from Belarus and 11th place. It was hideous. Happy for Ukraine though. :)

Points to Russia

12- Belarus
10- Estonia, Armenia, Israel, Moldova, Ukraine
8- Latvia
7-
6- Slovakia
5- Lithuania
4- Turkey
3- Azerbaijan
2- Portugal
1-

That's the answer. While most of the countries were able to get votes from anywhere (and even missing some of the obvious one), Russia got all the ex-USSR and a bit else and just with that is 11th higher than most of the entries. Indeed unfair

And I'm not blaming the Russian song, which is IMO nice (I gave it 8 points in the poll) but 100 % AMATEUR. But don't deny that any other country with this song would have finished last with 0 points (well, 2 points from Portugal).

The award for the most random voting goes to Georgia!!! 3 to UK and 12 to Belarus, along with 2 for Switzerland in the semi-final.

Some of the other points though were still more or less predictable. :|
