I can't say agree with the EBU doing something about the fees. They are already cheap. If a broadcaster can't afford the fees, then they don't take part. Simple. EBU needs the fees to keep Eurovision running at It's current level. Once the economic slump is over, many of these contries will return full time. Withdrawals are to be expected at the moment. The surprising thing is that It's taken this long to happen.

I'm surprised its taken so long as well. I would expected this sort of withdrawal in 2009/2010 Just as the world crisis hit.

The bold ones are just perfect for me.
The worst entry is from Constantinos in 2005. :?

2004 [...], one of the few songs that made me shed a tear

Me too, actually more than one but due to very different reasons. xrofl2 :?

The award for the best Cypriot entry, according to my opinion, wins Eimai anthropos ki ego by a landslide. xlove

I wish we will send songs like that one in the future. Last years I didn't love any Cypriot entry :?

Slovenia? xthink Not really, but I consider it one of the better 21st century entries from them. As for :cy: 2004, this is my personal last place of all Eurovision songs in history. SOOC For that crime alone CyBC would have deserved a lifelong ban without parole.

An me thimase was not bad, I wouldn't have mind it qualifying, but did not stand out at all. I think this is primarily why it failed.

I feel really sad for the Cypriot fans, I enjoyed Cyprus' past 3 entries and often when Cyprus has been good it's been pretty underrated :(

Oh yeah I saw you saying that in the best Slovenian entry thread. I just cannot understand how you like Slovenia's ballad and you disliked the Cypriot one. The Slovenian 2004 entry is the cheesiest song to have ever graced the ESC stage  It's so generic and middle of the road and badly done, it's a catastrophe to my ears. But I wouldn't go as far as banning RTVSLO for it
On the other hand, I've always liked "Stronger every minute" and will continue to do so. Actually, one of my earliest ESC memories is seeing that peformance back in 2004. The other one is seeing the Ukrainian entry. I remember my father immediately saying "this will be the winner"

I really loved this one:

From the recent ones I really liked the Welsh contribution in 2010 (much better than Tom Dice's song imo), "La, la love" of-course. Evdokia Kadi was entertaining and pleasant to watch/listen to. I liked Despina. I thought she was underrated, considering she gave a great performance. I liked "Come ci, come ca" and "Nomiza" ("Nomiza" was underrated, even though I liked most songs that year). I disliked your 2004 entry, but she did give a great performance.
I also liked your 2005 entry, guilty!!

Breaking News!

Broadcaster SIGMA TV announced that they are willing to support financially CyBC to have a decent and proper representation in Eurovision 2014. Deputy Chief of SIGMA, Mr Dimitris Tsokaris revealed the information.

“We are willing to produce the national selection and the necessary expenses for the song and the artist like MAD TV did for Greece last year… it’s never too late for CyBC to change their minds, there’ still time” Mr Tsokaris concluded.
