I straight up dislike this. The staging is just bombast which does fit the song so it's not exactly a dig, but there is nothing going on that is interesting in any way. The song is just aggressively stupid without having a point to it. Like last year Kaarija at least had this emotional arc to it and one of the best left turns in ESC history where this constipated metalcore suddenly became a blasting EDM. Croatia has nothing, it's just 80s hair metal singalong crap start to finish. I get the appeal, but there is little art to this so I prefer this be something that just ends up in 10th place and doesn't bother the songs that deserve the win.

My absolute favourite this year! I really hope it wins (and I'd LOVE Eurovision to be held in Croatia next year - we need a new breath of air!).
I love everything about the song. I love that he wasn't even supposed to have been in the Croatian national final and I love that his vocals have improved so much since then. I love that he wrote his own song (which is pretty unique in ESC nowadays!).
And I absolutely love him as a person. He's just so straightforward and authentic in interviews, and I think the lyrics / theme of his song speak to a lot of people.
If I could, I'd give Croatia 24 points ;-)

Tumblr, mostly.
I am not SUUUURE if Croatia win to be honest. Everyone else grew more between nf and eurovision and he kind of stayed the same. I loved the performance though - his vocals and confidence has drastically improved since February, and this is clearly going to do very well. Still one of my personal favourites.

I wouldn't be surprised if he came up JUST short though. It'll depend on how high the jury scores him (he's within winning range i think) and whether someone (netherlands?) can challenge him as the televote winner.

It'll be tight, just like how we always knew it would be.

Well.... it makes me think of Måneskin.
Yeah, that mixed with Käärijä. I was not feeling it yesterday which is a shame because I have such a soft-spot for Croatia and would love them to finally win but to me this seems like fan-fav-flop in a similar Occidentali's Karma.

If the camera works are to be fixed mildly, I would say they need some good angles to focus on the lacework on the instruments. I knew they were there because of the rehearsals but with the shaky camera angles and such, it was too difficult to notice last night. As part of the concept, I am sure many were not even aware.

Love this to immeasurable levels. He's an incredibly engaging and magnetic performer. It's entertaining, dynamic, catchy, quirky and a total hit. Would be the most exhilarating winner for me since Italy, but I'm trying to not become too attached to that idea.

I forgot to comment here about Rim Tim Tagi Dim! I like the choice of theme the song is about, it shows that the singer/songwriter put effort in creating a song that is catchy with a deeper significance, dealing with rural flight and emigration affecting his own country (and others too).

BL seems a good guy and it's cool that he's getting support starting from his small hometown, the reference to the cat is cute as well :giggle:. Considering his performance, the elements of the song and the odds, RTTD seems to have all the ingredients to bring victory back to Croatia (I'm including Riva who won for Yugoslavia). I don't know how much support BL will get by the juries but... why not? So good luck to :hr:! :giggle:

The audience screaming along "woooah-ooh" with BL was something. It gave Cha Cha Cha vibes when everyone in the arena was screaming "cha cha-cha ch-cha cha cha" in time. I sniff public vote winner for sure.

But please, fix the camera work for the viral dance moment, you can't get the full effect as the camera is doing these weird sweeping arcs that don't emphasise the movement properly. A static, front-on camera would have been far more impactful for me.

Did he really say "It's not over until the fat lady sings" during the Press Conference of the Semi1 winners or did I misheard? Being seated just next to Ukraine, it was a bit awkward.

I’m so happy that it’s obviously a big thing in :hr: right now. Feels like :pt: 2017. It could be a similar underdog story in the end!

Btw :hr: is trending at #1 in :at: on YouTube.

Not surprising I guess. Aren´t many Croatians living in :at:??

Yes. Is it not trending in :de:? There are many :hr: too. But in general I think it’s not just the diaspora, the song just seems very popular. I watched the first bit of the SF yesterday with some non-Eurovision friends and all of them enjoyed :hr:, both boys and girls.
