Well, the dress really is extravagant, but I imagined it even worse. As a whole act, it doesn´t look bad and vocally, it was beautiful as always.

Slay queen! xheart And yet another beautiful dress but I'm pretty sure she has just secured herself the Barbara Dex award. :lol:

I think this will look great on the TV. The only thing I don't really like is the backdrop. They could've come with something much better.

And Nina is apparently ill. I hope she gets well before Monday/Tuesday. :( I think it could have been heard a bit in her voice.

This dress is incredible. What did she said in the interview? It weights 70 pounds? A new standard for extravaganza. ;)

yes she is

Before going on stage, the Croatian delegation explained their full stage costumes: "The backing singers will be wearing full black coats, covering also their heads - they represent the evil in the performance, while Nina represents the good, hence her white dress."

The delegation was in good mood, even though Nina Kraljić was slightly ill. The four backing vocalists are in fact not only needed for the stage act, they also help Nina carry her massive dress on stage!

She is. That's going to be really bad if she doesn't recover before the jury rehearsal. But then again, I'm not sure about juries. If they were objective, they should reward her for the great voice (well, of course if she gives a great performance), her originality, not having a generic song while still being something that could have a pretty mainstream appeal and for actually having a story behind the song... but they usually turn out to be even more conservative and generic than the viewers.

The dress would make a great asset in an art gallery or some futuromantic Hollywood flick, but how it is supposed to help Nina in her competitive effort? By drawing away the attention from the great song or her amazing voice?

This looks more and more like the next Maraaya. Except Maraaya did not put any serious effort in their staging. Croatia is just wasting resources to ruin their own entry, and we are all condemned to sit by and watch it happen. xcry1

During her first rehearsal, Nina Kraljic from Croatia came out in a structured kimono-inspired piece. We knew her backing dancers would tear the dress away in the second rehearsal, and we expected it to reveal something fabulous. Sadly this wasn’t the case. She’s singing “Lighthouse” but someone has definitely dimmed the lights…


The styling choices don’t seem true to Nina’s personality or style. While the structured kimono definitely fits with her edgy, avant-garde image, the metallic dress she reveals is very Las Vegas showgirl. She looks like a metallic peacock who had a bad encounter with a fan. This cringe moment will surely make her a contender for the Barbara Dex Award. We suggest the structured kimono stay on during the entire performance. Even wearing a lighthouse costume would be more appropriate.

It’s important to note that Nina does sound absolutely phenomenal. Unfortunately the costumes distract from the vocal, which may hinder Croatia’s chance at qualifying.

Wow the real dress is even worse than the kimono thing! In fact I think I like the kimono thing more than the dress! :eek:

Worst case scenario come true. What a train crash. As if one OTT costume wasn't enough, they've got two... and Nina stuck to the ground looking like a stuffed seagull isn't doing it any favours. She looks terribly unhappy and her vocals are very underwhelming.

Croatia, you couldn't have ruined this more if you had tried! Even if this miraculously gets in the final it won't do anything of importance there.

What a shame xfacepalm

Well, I actually like dress and think it is quite extraordinary but nice, BUT only one thing RUINS everything and that are those...INSTALLATIONS on her hands! No, I can't that! No and no and BIG NO! That is totally unnecessary, it would be more decent if she has some light like Alenka Gotar or Nina itself in her official video on last refrain so she really starts to illuminate then. But yet this...my only hope is that this works well on TV and that doesn't distract too much. If it is "only" dress without those installations I think it would be nice and extraordinary and not too distractive but on this way I'm afraid it will be too much distractive...:(
Her vocals are getting worser and worser, I hope she gets together for jury and then, public staging. All in all, I can't be so sure this is qualifier, but my thoughts are like on 50-50...it will depend on 1) her vocals and 2) on camera angels.
If she gets back her best vocals and with good camera angles that looks nice and effective, it could be good.

To finish on the positive note, they made amazing things with back vocalists! :D It suits backdrop and "good vs. bad " fight message of the song! :D Epic! xcheer

EDIT: I just looked eurovision.tv video in better quality and dress actually looks effective. This could be good in the end...yet not sure what to expect.
