I think people are slightly overreacting about the staging. Like tinchey said, the kimono is on for only 30 seconds and then she will be wearing a new dress we havent seen (that I think reflects light ) I think we may still be surprised with the staging

I dunno but somehow I am worried. A lot of factors are against Croatia now (it was a bad semi from the beginning) and Nina's stage-image isn't really that good nor pleasing so I don't know. Somebody is going to lose after SF1 and the loser can be Croatia.

IF Croatia doesn't qualify this year, it would be only HRT's fault and they should blame themselves only because the song, itself, is a masterpiece.

Why are everyone concerned with her image, I just don't understand that. This is not Miss Universe and she shouldn't look like one. This is the competition where Lordi won, for heaven's sake and we had a guy that wants to be a woman but still wants to keep his beard, and then there are people who worry about Nina's haircut and such. Lordi's image I guess was very pleasing. I was like "wtf" when I saw them, but I still liked the song and everything about them, and obviously many other people did, too. Had we been watching the same Eurovision contest? Because I really don't see as a problem what some others see as a problem.

And when Lady Gaga dresses herself in meat and I don't know what else, then it's cool. When Nina or someone else tries to be more interesting and unique then it's suddenly "not pleasing", "weird", "horrible", ...

A lot of things changed after Lordi's win. For example we have 2 semis, juries, a new type of stages, a new type of draw and a new voting system. We also got Jan Ola Sand. Music also changed drastically for 10 years and the production value of Eurovision in general.

Also the edgyness of Lordi's or Lady Gaga's image corresponds with their music. "Lighthouse" on the other case is anything but an edgy song. It's really soft and ethnic and flows like a river, like a wave in the sea.

It doesn't feel coherent. It feels like the Norwegian song-mix-crap this year.

That's the first part. The second part why the image is a problem - Croatia is pretty much alone in the semi. It might get 12 points from BiH but that's not enough to qualify.

This new voting system still includes people who vote from their home. And they are allowed to vote from their homes again this year. What people imply here is that Nina's image is too weird for the general public but we have seen that the general public voted for weird acts before, so I don't know why all the sudden that same public is seen as superficial public who will not like Nina's different look.

If you aren't aware by now that the image contaminates the song then my telling you won't help. It's a well known fact though. Of course, it has nothing to do with beauty contests. You don't have to be beautiful, but you sure have to look interesting and above all you have to make sense meaning you have a character to play and you gotta act accordingly.
The Lordi guys looked FANTASTIC, totally top, what kind of an example was that? :D

I am so sorry to say this, i have suspected it for a while but now it's becoming a reality, but she's looking cheap. And looking cheap is the one fatal mistake you can never make in the eurovision stage. It is sad, but I have very litle hope in Croatia's qualification now. They would have to change too many things and i just don't believe they will.

That's what I want to say. The definition of "interesting" is not quite clear. Many people see Lady Gaga as unique and interesting, some others will roll their eyes and say she's exaggerating and that her look is cheap also. And people have been complaining about Nina's image long before this rehearsal. It was about her face, then haircut, now it's this. I'm seriously tired of reading all that. And we haven't seen how it will all actually look like yet, but everyone is so fast to judge. Now you may think that's fair and realistic, but I think it's not.

As if those 24 points from BiH are the only ones she's going to get. Even if the performance isn't optimal (I won't judge just yet 'cause we haven't really seen all that much) the song is still the best in the Semi :geek:

Seriously, she just needed to wear a simple dress and be in a backdrop that's like waves, sea or smth like that and she is an easy qualifier. How is looking like a tree even connecting to the song?

Before this rehearsal everyone was saying that she has to have an amazing staging if she wants to qualify...and that just standing there with something simple around her won't be enough. And now when she's doing something not-simple, now everyone is like - she just needs something simple. -.-''' Croatians would say - nije se rodio tko je svima ugodio or "Haven't been born yet the one who pleased everyone."

Sure. But both "press" and betting odds are very unimpressed. No matter what anyone thinks, they have a knack at spotting the top places through rehearsals. Rehearsal 2 will definitely tell though.

We'll have to watch the entire performance before we really know if Nina's team ruined her chances or not. It seems we have only seen some parts of what they have in mind, but apparently they plan to create something special on the stage. I think they are gambling. The first pictures are not too encouraging, but with complete costuming and good lighting and camera direction this could still create a special mood for the viewers. Let's wait and see.

Seriously, if they have to rely ONLY on camera angles, that means the performance sucks. Edurne from last year is a big example.

Ok...Since they have selected song everything seemed so good and positive. But after that Nina has started doing one step wrong after another and it all culminated at first rehearsal with that strange thing and unsure back vocalists (how on Earth it is possible to not train and prepare everything in studio before going) . Ok, maybe it looks good on TV with kimono and...MY LAST SCREAM OF HOPE! That ACTUAL DRESS will be nice and effective! It is in white color and it reflects light! Two things that sound promising! IF (BIG IF) Nina manages in that too dark backgrounds reflect light with effective (and quite NORMALLY NICE) dress she can bring that message of hope on totally another level and bring back her sure chances of being qualified. So far everyone told background and atmosphere is too dark so if dress reflects light it can bring performance and atmosphere on totally another level.
If dress is fiasco and will be some strange (someone at Croatian eurovision page describe it that it is similar to this dress from 1:10 to 1:30 in this video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bd-mqaR7jXo xhelp xhelp xhelp - I also have big hope this was only troll) experiment creation, I'm very afraid Nina even could stay in SF...

As I said, this is my last scream of hope...that I will find your...your....lighthouse...(lighthouse is only symbol but I think on decent stage performance of Nina Kraljić :mrgreen:)
