Nah, they got 4th.
I ended 3rd and declined to host so Rumia was given the opportunity.

first of all, the rules of this new contest are more similar to NSC, so if youre going to rip off any rules, rip the NSC rules off.

Secondly, dont rip any rules off. You can these as a basis, but dont copy and paste anything from any other contest, it's unoriginal and wont gave the contest an identity.

I do not like. I do not want to bother about finding songs in a particular year. It should be a song that I like. This is even more to add more work on validation of songs. imo

And for example I do not like if we have a song from 1982., 1998. and 2011. competing in the same competition. If older songs will be allowed I think it is better we chose a year to compete and then everyone has to send song from that year.

Well NSC has no age restrictions on songs. Most people send modern songs from the last few years, sometimes people send old songs with different levels of success (the last edition of NSC, the runner-up was from the early 90s)

I agree, we shouldn't rip rules off. But this way we remember all rules of the contest, not just a few that everyone is talking about.

As for the no-national-final-songs-rule, it's for the same reason as no ESC songs: it's simply boring. People will send NF songs that are popular with everyone, and most people will know. I think the purpose of an online song contest is to discover new music, after all

Well NSC has no age restrictions on songs. Most people send modern songs from the last few years, sometimes people send old songs with different levels of success (the last edition of NSC, the runner-up was from the early 90s)

2004 remake though which changed the song a lot. The original would have in now way done as good. Basically when you have free rules for entry time when anything earlier than 2000 is rather not competitive unless it is a massive world hit which can end up higher mid table.

We need to evaluate the song and not the year.

But NF's songs are also making to the charts. :? And it is up to people which song they will send. Also, not songs from all NFs are popular the same. Maybe just for Sweden, Norway and some other countries that have highly organized NFs. But I doubt that many people here know much songs for example, from Albanian NF. So, I think that songs should not be banned.

THIS! That is why I'm for 21st century songs.

But maybe there can be spin off sub-forum where can be organized some contest with just older songs and that there participate people that want and prefer it.

I say we go for fast-paced contest taking place over max 3 weeks (once semi-finals get introduced). Semi-finals might be too early if we aren't enough participants though.

So to start out with I suggest we have one week of confirming a song (for whichever country you wanna represent, from whichever year you want) and then there's one week for the show + voting.

I also think that songs from NF-s should NOT be banned.For example,most of Croatian hits have particiapted in our national finals.

ummm......where is the time for NFs?

I'd see it more like this:
Weeks 1 and 2: Confirmation, NFs
Week 3: Semi Finals
Week 4: Final

And it's way too soon to start reserving countries. The contest hasnt been given the go ahead yet, and there's no concrete rules yet

Okay, but I hope to listen to some Yugoslav-Croatian stuff, too. Not only new songs, because Croatia has NFs from 90s, doesn't it? :?

I do not say contrary. But I think it wouldn't be the same surrounding for all songs.

The organizers must have time to prepare the show, I think. Especially by monyh will be much easier to navigate than by week. Participant must be has the concept: as soon 20st of July and I need to send a song, or will soon be 25 and show.
