Re: Creating new contest on the forum

Yes, let people decide. xup But let people to see why we are against/for some options. It is not explanation which option is better. That are arguments of both sides. ;) What is bad if they shorty lear arguments about we are discussing? :?

It's okay to post advantages and disadvantages, as long as they're evenly distributed.

Re: Creating new contest on the forum

If there is a poll, then it would be silly to post explanations which option is better - let the people decide!

I think explanations are very important, and all members can write them.

My explanation why NOT to have Language contest are :

a) some juries like Spanish,Portuguese,English will be too overcrowded.
b) Language has nothing to do with music.
c) Languages like English,Spanish will always win since there are small number of hits in some other languages.

I will write more later . I can't recall all of them atm.

Re: Creating new contest on the forum

a) So why can't i decide it myself, but you have nothing against Grinch deciding it himself/herself. Screaming discrimination.
b) Spin-offs would have to have to share the same fundamental ideas with the main contest... like they do in fsc or nsc but wouldn't in the proposed new solutions.

a) I'm not deciding anything. I just think they're not that different. Even if they were, why is it important for you?
b) Who says? And it's neither FSC or NSC. It's a new contest so it will have its own rules.

Re: Creating new contest on the forum

but new contest for the dissatisfied
yeah, see this is where the issue is I think. Some people want a contest in protest of FSC and NSC, which is fair enough and you're entitled to a new contest if you want, but that shouldnt stop other people wanting a new contest for different reasons. We should have 2 new contests imo, one for the people dissatisfied with FSC/NSC but also one for people wanting a new, completely Odifferent sort of contest. Of course these two contests arent mutually exclusive, and everyone can join any contest they wish.

Re: Creating new contest on the forum

If will choose one of contests, I'm the 3rd time in the last two days I see discrimination on the forum

1. ROW (against new countries)
2. WL (against new members)
3. this

Following your logic, countries have nothing to do with music as well ;)
I can easily say that XY country will always win since there are small number of hits in some other countries.

The two options are in a level playing field.

I'm also in for keeping 2 contests.

Are you aware that the very same arguments can be said against countries-based contest?

a) some juries like USA, UK will be too overcrowded
b) country has nothing to do with music
c) countries like USA, UK will always win

oh well, others already said that

a) They won't.Much more people know music by countries, than by languages. If you know Canadian,American,Australian,English,Irish very good, you can participate for all of them. But if you have language contest, all these countries music will be in one language : English
b) no.
c) correction then : Languages like English,Spanish will always win since there are small number of awesome songs in some other languages.

Popular countries more then popular languages because many popular countries have same language (UK and USA, Brazil and Portugal)

a) It'll be same in this contest too. UK, USA etc.
b) :geek:
c) Do countries like UK and USA always win in FSC? Nope!

It's all about different tastes in music, not hits. It won't be a problem.

I wrote explanations in next post.

a) I don't get your explanation - the biggest music industries come from USA, Spain, France, etc. It's only natural that people will choose those countries, because of the biggest variety.
b) :? Songs are SUNG in a language. Saying that music has nothing to do with language is bulls**t
c) You're kidding me again - there are probably many awesome songs in other languages, we just don't know them yet. If someone decides to send an entry in such a language, it may be liked by many people.

well the idea of creating new contests has been going on for ages. Long before the current FSC RoW dispute. And I dont see why not, if there's enough support for a new contest, then the mods should facilitate it. No one should have a monopoly on making contests.
