DanielLuis Well, let's continue here :p Is China a member of EBU? If not, why is this thread created?

Because of those rumours that China will be invited next year. If you want my opinion about their possible participation, I don't want it to happen either!

I hope they will never take part, to be honest. And this has nothing to do with China specifically. I don't want Australia as a permanent participant either. Eurovision should be for Europe and Europe only, because that is what it was created for. Non-European countries on the Mediterranean and borderline Eurasian/Caucasian countries are the only accepted exceptions to this, I think. This has nothing to do with some kind euro-centrism/elitism. It would be equally wrong for European countries to join a contest specifically created for Asia, Africa, Oceania or the Americas.

Just my two cents.

I agree. :)
What do you think about the idea of having each year one guest country from Rest of the World ? :)

I'm afraid the EBU was so clear about Kosovo, but not so clear about China. They said Kosovo CAN'T enter but about China they tweeted: "NO PLANS for China to take part RIGHT NOW".
This means we can't rule this out, unfortunately.

And more worrying, look at this:

Wow, the EBU is more hypocritical, evil and dirty that I thought they would be.... :?

1- They clearly admit that they care more about their members than their audience. That's nice, EBU. That's really nice.... ;)

2- EBU seems to ignore their own rules. They keep on the silly thing of "bringing nations together" bla bla bla... And they even say the contest doesn't have geographical limits... WTF.

3- Decisions to be taken by the Reference Group. So our only hope is that 6 of the participant countries have common sense and are not corrupt. Too much to ask for I'm afraid :(

I think you should remember that the Twitter feed is probably run by a secretary who doesn't know anything about these decisions and the hierarchy of the EBU beyond what he or she is told. I really wouldn't read too deeply into a tweet.

It shouldn't be like that. Any social media or communication manager must know about everything they write since they are like a spokesperson of the organization.

A secretary tweeting whatever he/she wants without any information from the bosses would be really messy and cheap, inappropriate for such an organization like the EBU (inappropriate for pretty much everyone anyway).

What scares me is that the EBU has the most expansion drift ever one corporation showed since Hitler :p

Obviously Bakker and Sand are not tweeting this, but the one tweeting is posting what he was made to post and is representing EBU, so it's EBU word.
