Re: CHINA 2016

DanielLuis Well, let's continue here :p Is China a member of EBU? If not, why is this thread created?

Yes, China is an EBU associate member since 2010. That's why their participation in the medium or long run can't be totally ruled out :?

Well I am sorry to say it but I am glad they aren't taking part. Let's try to bring back the rest Europian countries and then go outside the Europe :)

Wait...
EBU - European Broadcasting Union. China and Marocco are not in Europe, so why are they members of something European? I don't understand. :?

There are different statuses: active members of the EBU are basically all the European countries we're used to seeing in Eurovision, they are within the European broadcasting area. Then, there are associate members of EBU, that can be anywhere in the world, to name of few: Australia, China, Chile, South Africa, Cuba, India... They probably have some kind of partnership because these broadcaster are considered to be playing a major role at national level in terms of broadcasting according to the EBU. xthink

As Australia is "only" an associate member, all the countries that fall into the same category could potentially make a debut someday :? That may be unlikely for most of them, but after this year, status is not relevant anymore when it comes to accepting new participants in the contest.

These countries are allowed to be members of the EBU. Along with Morocco, Tunisia, Algeria, Libya, Egypt, Lebanon, Syria, Jordan, are also members of the EBU but they reject the invitation to enter the ESC every year.

Re: CHINA 2016

Okay I don't know where else to post this (This is my first post so if I brake any rules please inform me).
But apparently the EBU and ABU decided to increase co-operation and one of the things that was discussed was an ABU star to sing at Eurovision (not sure if as a participant or interval act):

(Page 11 on the 2nd link)
What do you guys think about this?
Personally I wouldn't mind if it is just an interval act (like Australia 2014)
Sorry for bad English I have dyslexia and English is my 3rd language.

Interesting. Countries like Turkey, Azerbaijan, Egypt and Jordan are members of both the EBU and the ABU, while Russia is not ... xthink

Only if they can guarantee their final votes turn out like an OGAE vote like Australia's do ;)

only then will the EBU allow it
tumblr_ntzhv8oWhD1rumdtuo1_500.gif

In what way was Australia's vote like OGAE? They gave 12 to the winner, 10 to the runner-up, 8 to the third place 7 to 6th placed Latvia and 6 to 5th placed Belgium, so they pretty much agreed with what other countries voted for. Your conspiracy theories are getting wilder and more imaginative everyday.
