After all, if Cyprus, Russia, Azerbaidjan, Armenia, Georgia are in, why not China?

Huh? Cyprus is in the EU and indisputably a European country in all terms expect for the disputed geographical one (but being an Island it's a floating subject ). Russia, Azerbaijan and Georgia are all having parts in continental Europe... Armenia, well it's a direct neighbor to Europe and arguably a European country aswell (atleast on a political, cultural, linguistic, religious and historical level).

However if Australia are let in, then it makes no sense to not let in any other non-European countries... I'd say let's destroy this contest as fast as possible!

Re: CHINA 2016

My message was just for the geographical aspect.
All of countries that i've mentionned, aren't entirely in Europe
Some african countries have participated too!

I don't say that i'm agree for China's participation, but i'm not shocked!

PS : (Sorry for Cyprus, i've don't realised that their in EU )

Re: CHINA 2016

China = more $$$ in ESC
more $$$ in ESC = more opportunities for countries who have had to drop out for financial reasons to receive aid or w/e

I'm all for this

Also honestly... Who actually cares if China is in it? It really will not make that much of a difference (unless your thought process is OMG ASIANS IN EUROVISION? BAD BAD BAD!!)

Let's just make Azerbaijan win so they can pay 50% of everyone's participation fee :p

Re: CHINA 2016

Armenia are closer to Europe than Azerbaijan is...

How come? they don't have land in Europe while Azerbaijan has. Also they're not descended from Europeans. Armenia has little to do with Europe and they're closer to Middle Eastern populations like Syrians, or Lebanese historically, culturally, even religiously (see Syrian and Lebanese Christians)

Typical Western hypocrisy that brings up the 'religion' factor. As if Christianity is originated in Europe. I'm sorry but Islam, just like Christianity, is a native European religion, as practiced by nations that have land in Europe such as Bosnia, Albania, Turkey, Azerbaijan, Kosovo, parts of Greece, Bulgaria, Macedonia etc. like it or not, you can't change facts.

If religion is that important to you, go have Uganda. They're Christians too. And sure they're so much progressive, European-like nation that wants to execute homosexuals.

Re: CHINA 2016

If Cyprus is in 'Europe', then should be half of Turkey as well, technically. Aegean Coast of Turkey which is a few swim strokes away from the Greek shore is regarded as Asia Minor but Cyprus is European because y'know they're Christians.

Sorry but North Africa is closer to Europe than Cyprus is.

Religion isn't important to me at all. Geographically look here.

I wanted to write something but I think all the arguments AGAINST were already used. This is just pure nonsense. I say NO of course.

Re: CHINA 2016

IKR, neither Christianity or Islam originated in Europe.

True, but Christianity come to Europe in first century, and Islam in 15th century. And BTW I really don't care for religion.

And about China on ESC: NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!

Does it really matter who came first? there's this fact that Islam has a significant ground in Europe and there are Muslim-majority states fully or partially located in Europe. So 'religion' can in no way be a point of discussion in whether a country can be regarded as European or not.

Where did I say that religion played a role?

Re: CHINA 2016

Well it still disproves your point that Azerbaijan is closer to Europe.

They technically have a part in Europe from the Caucasus. Armenia is %0 in Europe. You need some instructions about widely accepted European boundaries.
