Re: Proof that Azerbaijan cheats in Eurovision voting

why you Eastern people give your highest notes almost always to your neighbors and friends and not to the West?

1. it's not true. Except Moldova, we receive nothing from our neighbors (Hungary, Serbia, Bulgaria, Ukraine)
2. people have different taste in West than us, so we like more the music for our region.

And I forgot to say something in my previous post. Why all week our swedish hosts were so desperately acting in favour of Denmark? In the official site there were times more pictures of Denmark from the rehearsals. More than half of the interval acts were on the "Let's cross this bridge next year" topic. And of course to have proper end of all this ridiculous and biased behaviour last evening the host couldn't waited until the end the voting to announce with relief that we will finally cross this mythic bridge next year. I've never seen such rude, violent and really annoying treatment to the all countries (except one of course). But it's more easy to talk about Azerbaijan and to decline the obvious truth that they are just good in Eurovision and receive exactly what they deserve.

In case you missed an obvious point, I'm not talking about Romania  In "East" I mean like... East... ex-USSR - they follow very specific rules when it comes to voting which cannot be said about Romania, Bulgaria, Hungary, etc.

oh please Adel, Scandinavian and Balkan blocks are equally strong. But always discussions about exUSSR countries. that's why i say that West biased exactly about exUSSR

same rulls followed by Scandinavian countries.

These doubt with the Maltese 12 points can co-exist with the rude attitude by SVT xshrug
And my personal view is: I'm not usuallly fond of the Azerbaijani entries but I understand people like them and no doubts they take it seriously and try their very best. That said, it is still weird that a country like Malta, which is not their neighbour nor there are strong cultural bonds, gives them 12 points every single year.

Scandinavian? Are you kidding? There were multiple situations when some Scandinavian countries didn't give any points to any Scandinavian countries. Ex-Yugoslavia, I agree. The point with ex-USSR is that it's much bigger than ex-Yugoslavia, so there are more points "wasted" on your buddies. That and also the fact that there's usually more ex-USSR countries in the final than ex-Yugoslav countries.

Well to prove you wrong immediately where I was yesterday watching eurovision, in sweden, in a average house, with a big average family who couldn't care less about eurovision - everyone (except me) liked russia, ukraine and azerbaijan. They despised Norway, Netherlands, which I happened to like.
So...

I didn't say anything about Sweden, I was talking about Croatia, but eh whatever. If a person is amazed by a 230cm person carrying Zlata, which is beyond me that it was allowed to mock a person with health issues by calling him A GIANT, then fine...

Also I'd like to say something about the so-called Balkan bloc, which was mentioned in this thread. You can't compare Ex-USSR to Ex-Yu, why's that? Well it's because we're ABLE to understand each other, we can understand the lyrics and the possible folk background unlike Ex-USSR where they don't even use their language instead they sing in awful english which they aren't able to speak properly. Well Estonia is an exception, but they're more Nordic than an Eastern country. What I meant to say is that people over here relate more to the songs that they understand (ofc) so I think EXYU should stay out of it.
Furthermore, Balkan countries are corrupt as s*** but nothing can beat Malta when it comes to that.

Re: Proof that Azerbaijan cheats in Eurovision voting

:ru: and :se: never exchanged points and in 2012 :se: got 12 from Russia
and many West countries ALWAYS get points from East.
And I know that our commentators cheered last night for Italy, UK (Bonnie Tyler), Cascada...

Yes, Eastern countries every year give very good points to Western ones (last night the Balkans made Denmark to win for example). So I really don't see why West is always complainig how the East votes? Last night Belgium and Netherlands showed that they are even better in exchanging points than Moldova and Romania but noone complains :D
I really want all of us to get rid of this East/West thing. 'We are one', don't forget that!

ex-USSR countries have diaspora in the neighbors countries. The Russians are everywhere.

that was treason :D

and should add, :az: wasn't even in my top10 before ESC, but performance and song impressed me during show and I very like :az: now and think that 2nd for them deserved as never (except 2009)

I have exactly same impression with :az:.
You can't judge music tastes and people's votes. I don't believe it has any truth, especially they got a first already.
Which delegation cares that much with Eurovision? Which nation spends that much money for Eurovision? :?

These diaspora sicken me, really... Eurovision has turned into one big DiasporaVision because this is probably the biggest group of people who watch and vote in this.

I don't really care about ''behind the scenes'', i am just here for the music which i hear in Eurovision and therefore Azerbaijan deserves all the success they had.

Well, I guess one can see a pattern in everything and I can agree that a program like the classic Swedish TV show Inför Eurovision was notoriously biased towards certain songs and cruelly dissed others. The connection to specific countries just wasn't there though. This year SVT choosed to remove this VERY popular program for the new lame version. Guess why, they were afraid some artists would be upset. I didn't see what you're describing, but I'm probably biased as well. If anyone I think Margaret got a favourable treatment. The bridge was intended as a symbol for the connection between Sweden and "the continent" (= Europe). Think as we're an island just as Britain and you'd understand it.

edit:
Besides I can't see a single Nordic post in the thread bashing Azerbaijan or the east. Do you?

It's a shame we didn't see a close up of Aliona walking across the bridge. We saw everyone else though.

I can understand all the people who vote for their homeland, I don’t blame them. Watching their country on Eurovision is like sit in front of a fire in winter. The performance warm them like the fire, because they feel the bond to the motherland. If I were living abroad, I would vote with my homeland. ( I wouldn't want my country be the last, so of course I'll help with my vote. It's all I can do)

I think this is true and I have always been thinking about this, as it also was in the newspaper that Azerbaijan was accused for buying votes from (an exampel) Maltese jury.
