Re: Proof that Azerbaijan cheats in Eurovision voting

Because it's something thats not allowed on the site. People caught using viewing bots are suspend from youtube. It's essentially the same as buying votes in a contest. You are buying "popularity". You are buying views. You are deceiving people. It's quite possibly one of the saddest, most pathetic things someone can do.

If any country were to do this, i'd dread to imagine what lengths they would go to in the contest to get points. [again i'll stress this is speculation. no proof]

Oh pish-posh! Spending money on promotional CDs and hosting "national" parties in the host city is "buying popularity" much much more than buying views on YouTube which count for nothing because 90% of people who watch Eurovision don't even watch the performances on YT before the songs are already performed... You can just count everything in the "buying votes" category... Did someone perform at another countries National Final? Well he must be buying their votes... Did a delegation host a party for the press? Well, if that isn't buying popularity I don't know what is... See where I am going?

People seem to forget that this thread is about Malta and Lithuania giving 12 points to Azerbaijan, not anything else.

i think was very well explained why :az: got 12 from Malta (and i think very similar situation in :lt: too)

Well, maybe that is becaue behind those accusations lies other issues that needs to be pointed out if we want to move on. For instance - Malta and Lithuania only could not give Azerbaijan the good results. They could not give more than 24 points....

Which means - that maybe some countries acually like the Azeri entries. :)

Re: Proof that Azerbaijan cheats in Eurovision voting

Bulgarian jury explained that they really liked this song and I know many people that voted for it as well without being stimulated. I was one of them and honestly I want someone to tell me where to find these Azeris throwing money and searching people to vote for them. I would have been in their voting rigging team with pleasure :D
Obviously there are people which still cannot accept the fact that Azerbaijan is the most successful country in Eurovision since the introduction of semis and they deserve their good results with the effort they put.

There is really almost Nazi attitude from the West towards the East and that makes me sick...
Eastern countries are guilty for all bad in Eurovision according those people. But not Bulgaria and Greece excahnged 12 points last night, but Belgium and Netherlands and the Noridcs as well. But that's not problem - let's bash the Eastern countries for all bad in the world.

Well I hope no one would consider me to come under that generalisation because if it was up to me, I would have made Bulgaria the winner of Eurovision this year.

The panorama programme on tv last year about Azerbaijan really made me think. I have nothing against the people of any country. Everyone should be judged as individuals. But it's clear some dark stuff is going on in this country courtesy of those in charge. For instance the arrests on people voting for Armenia. If it's any consolation, I pretty much hate my own country as well.

I don't know if it's cheating or neighbour voting or whatever, I'm just pissed how Azerbaijan and other ex-Soviet nations end up being so high with bunch of mediocre, meh songs that would finish in top 5 and be forgotten in less than 3 months... Also Malta did the same with Croatia in 90s and no one seemed to discuss that back then. Croatia has been giving high points to Azerbaijan since their debut as well, but honestly I don't know a single person that has ever liked any of their songs, apart from some fans... fishy indeed.

If they don’t want us, they just have to say it and we'll drop the curtain.
I don’t mind to have a contest between Balkans and Eastern European countries.

I'm not complaining about performing in other countries, promotional cd's etc. I'm complaining about deception. Deception is wrong. I don't know how anyone could think it's ok to cheat popularity.

Well to prove you wrong immediately where I was yesterday watching eurovision, in sweden, in a average house, with a big average family who couldn't care less about eurovision - everyone (except me) liked russia, ukraine and azerbaijan. They despised Norway, Netherlands, which I happened to like.
So...

And I forgot to say something in my previous post. Why all week our swedish hosts were so desperately acting in favour of Denmark? In the official site there were times more pictures of Denmark from the rehearsals. More than half of the interval acts were on the "Let's cross this bridge next year" topic. And of course to have proper end of all this ridiculous and biased behaviour last evening the host couldn't waited until the end the voting to announce with relief that we will finally cross this mythic bridge next year. I've never seen such rude, violent and really annoying treatment to the all countries (except one of course). But it's more easy to talk about Azerbaijan and to decline the obvious truth that they are just good in Eurovision and receive exactly what they deserve.

stop playing the nazi card all the time ....
this has nothing to do with that.
Just because some people don't think Azerbaijan deserves the good placing there's no need to offend us!

And the East is not biased about the West? If they are not, then why you Eastern people give your highest notes almost always to your neighbors and friends and not to the West?

I agree. If someone were to make a topic about it, i'd gladly complain about it there because I too have been made really angry by SVT's biased favouritism this year. As a matter of fact, lots of us were talking about it last night in other topics.

:ru: and :se: never exchanged points and in 2012 :se: got 12 from Russia
and many West countries ALWAYS get points from East.
And I know that our commentators cheered last night for Italy, UK (Bonnie Tyler), Cascada...

Actually Azerbaijan received the least points from the Turkish diaspora populated countries. 2 points from the Netherlands and 4 points from Germany. These countries almost always grant Turkey with 10 or 12 points.
