Re: BULGARIA 2012

The panel again... hmmm, then I guess we shouldn't expect anyone famous and it will be up to newcomers.
+ numerous rumours, of course )))
It's nice to see such news so early :D

Re: BULGARIA 2012

Actually, the selection is totally open for everyone which want to participate. The panel includes more than 55 people involved in all music genres (including pop-folk) and from many bulgarian cities (not only from Sofia).
I think that the chance to see popular names in our selection this year is very big. But don't forget that it's not about the names, but the songs. Great piece of music can be also made by not so popular artists :)
I expect more and better songs this year and better show in the 2 semis and the big final.
I'm also happy that BNT don't even think to give up, and continues to try every year.
They really don't care about the results so much :) So there won't be any drama if we stay again in the semi...

^ Yep, there won't be so much big names because we've already heard their opinions about BNT last year.
No, I never said it's a bad thing, judging from our own experience newcomers can surprise even more ;) :p

Is it the same panel like last year or it's about new people?

Re: BULGARIA 2012

Their opinion was that they had lack of time to prepare themselves for the contest last year. But now the organisation of the NF is better and i expect some really popular musicians to take part in the show. For example Elitsa Todorova and Deep Zone comeback is almost sure...

There are every year 10 or 12 changes in the jury, but generally the panel will be the same as the last year...

^ Their opinion was that BNT is a bunch of dynos who hate chalga + personal drama.
In any case having so much time is gr8, BNT's attitude improved in this direction :D

Re: BULGARIA 2012

Preslava, Dess (Desislava), some other pop-folk singers and other pop artist just stated that they are not prepared to take part in the contest, as there was not enough time, but in generall they said that they want to participate in the competition.
Actually i think that the hate from BNT against the chalga does not exist. It's kind of myth. Noone from the pop folk industry hasn't tried seriously, yet (except Sofi Marinova maybe). In my opinion the quality of their production in most cases is not good enough for ESC and they perfectly realize that ;)
But definately not in BNT is the reason that prevent pop-folk singers to participate.

^ They said that ridiculous "excuse" in order do not look bad. They also stated that with such people in BNT they have no chances.
Of course they want to participate but nobody wants to lose beforehand.

Let me just stop you right here. You almost sound like a spokes-person for BNT lol.

Quality of the chalga songs not "good enough for ESC"? But stuff like "Fire in my hair" is? Plz

We all know BNT has a thing against chalga (similar as the Serbian broadcaster responsible for ESC has a thing against turbo-folk).

The quality argument is just ridiculous considering how much cr*p BNT has put into their selections and considering some of the songs that eventually were send to ESC in the end, almost EVERY chalga song for the past years are better than most of those (including all entries in selections) combined.

Re: BULGARIA 2012

The real problem for pop-folk song for Bulgaria is not BNT, but the music labels like Payner (the biggest one). The popular singers have very strong contracts with that company and Eurovision participation of one of their singers means that Payner will loose money. This is the real problem, not BNT. In the past there were talks betwen the national broadcaster and singers like Preslava, but nothing happened due to that reason...
I'm not a spokeperson of BNT, but in fact they never said that are against the chalga singers. And the singers have nothing against the contest or the broadcaster, but it's all about the money ;)
And I don't think that 'Fire in my hair' or Krassimir is better, but this is the reality...
Most of the pop-folk singers and songs are not suitable for ESC, but there also good ones, which will do pretty good in the contest if they participate....

I get the contract thingy, but what you're saying about the supposed "lack of quality" in the chalga songs compared to whatever has been in the selections up to now, is exactly what officials from BNT said previously, which is either an excuse for something (maybe the contract thing) or just that BNT thinks chalga is below them for some reason.

And then I just wonder how songs like "Fire in my hair" (picked by BNT) could be considered "more" quality? It's silly of BNT talking about quality and then picking such a ridiculous song.

What is "suitable" for ESC? Is there a rule what should be there (other than the 1st september, non-political and 3min rules).. no there's not.

Turkey, Armenia & Greece all send pop-folk and managed high positions, most of the major chalga hits >>>> those songs imo and all have major potential in ESC (atleast as far as televoters goes, we know already juries prefer 90's Disney Ballads lol).

Just as song goes (minus political voting, diaspora voting and juries), Buglaria could have potentially ended up top. 5 each year with any of the folk-pop hits.

Sofi Marinova will participate in the selection. Her song is ethno/pop ,it will be fast. The song was composed by Kuku bend.

Sounds interesting. She's far from what I would pick from the chalga world to compete, but I like the productions I've heard from Kuku bend so far.

But I would honestly pick another singer though.

WOW for real?

Well I'm just fearing that if she'll go under the "Dess" name we might just be up for some of her quite lame English attempts though :(

But if this news is true then it sounds really promising still though.
