Re: BULGARIA 2012

Oh well... everyone is so excited about sending a pop-folk entry to Eurovision. However, I really don't see this happening...

1. BNT is does not favor this type of music.
2. The majority of Bulgarian people who follow Eurovision are pop music fans, so I don't think pop-folk will be very successful among them (remember Kali in 2005 NF)

My opinion about next year:

1. No Bulgarian pop - obviously we'll never be successful with a pop singer
2. Send something like "Water": Elitsa and Stoyan again, or maybe give "The Mystery of the Bulgarian Voices" a try. I think we can do as well as 2007 and even better.
3. Ku-Ku band. They can make a good ethno-pop or ethno-rock song, without being as kitsch as a pop-folk song, and at the same time they will be better accepted by people who follow Eurovision + Slavi Trifonov has many resources will do EVERYTHING in order to make his song successful.

@ Lucian: Sending pop-folk to Eurovision would be like Romania sending Manele... I'm sure u would not want that!
@ Narmina: Water is not pop-folk... It's traditional ethnic Bulgarian music with some DnB elements... it has the tune of the authentic Bulgarian folklore... maybe the same way you would view Mugam/Alim Qasimov in Azerbaijan. Pop-Folk has elements of Eastern Mediterranean, but not Bulgarian music.

That's an example:

Pop-Folk: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KFxWSKCYAhI

It's different for me! Chalga female singers are way good looking then the Manele female songers + Chalga is in Bulgarian and even if it has awful lyrics I don't understand them. The main reason people hate Manele is because of the lyrics, but If you don't understand them they are good songs :D

Yes, I hate chalga mostly because of the lyrics but also because of how cheap-looking and sounding many of the singers are.

Chalga is awesome, Manele are awful! Just compare the same song in different genres:

Chalga - masterpiece

Manele - my ears are bleeding

And note that the Bulgarian version is stollen from the Romanian one, and still is better :D

Yes i agree with sending something like the mystery of bulgarian voices or stoyan and elitsa again!!!. Also they can try with pop folk aswell, why not give it a try and see how it works?. But i guess that BNT will never accept that. They prefer to send pop songs. Perhaps pop-folk can bring more success, they just need to find a performer who can actually sing live like Desislava, Preslava, Gloria or perhaps Emilia.

Re: BULGARIA 2012

I think we should send pop-folk this year. The event will be in Baku, Azerbaijan. Azeris like songs like that. It`ll be good for the crowd. The song must be interesting and it has to have some "life" in it. We have to send a fast song again (maybe with some drums too) and I think we should use fire in the LEDs and many pyroeffects.
