I wake up and I think I could use another drink
I'm reaching for a smoke to forget about last night, last night
I get up 'cause I need a shot of instant remedy
I put a record on, it makes me think about last night, last night

It all ended in the weirdest chip
He started actin' way too hip
That's why I ignored you for a long, long time
But then you had the best opening line
You're in the wrong place

You're lying next to me, I don't know where to hide
I see his smiley face that makes me wanna cry
What was I thinking? 'Cause all we did was fight
Don't you ever dare to wear my Johnny Cash t-shirt

You're in the wrong place, you're in the wrong place

You wake up and you think you won't need another drink
You don't want me to smoke, though I didn't stop last night, last night
You get up 'cause you need an organic cup of tea
You put a record on, it makes you think about last night, last night

You confuse me with your blurry eyes
Thought you were a different kind of guy
That's why I took you to my messy place
But it felt as if we were in a different space
You're in the wrong place

You're lying next to me, I don't know where to hide
I see his smiley face that makes me wanna cry
What was I thinking? 'Cause all we did was fight
Don't you ever dare to wear my Johnny Cash t-shirt

You're in the wrong place, you're in the wrong place
You're in the wrong place, you're in the wrong place
You're in the wrong place, you're in the wrong place
Don't you ever dare to wear my Johnny Cash t-shirt

Germany‘s main Eurovision YouTube channel (run by the main ESC channel NDR) has their annual reaction videos up, each day one reaction video. The committee includes well-known German singers, actors, youtubers, various celebs and ESC related podcasters, people working for NDR etc. And none of them really liked Belgium! 😢 As the people are similar to the jurors in our German ESC jury I can totally see them not supporting Belgium this year. German jury always has a strange taste.

I just went to the channel - why is William from wiwibloggs on the French reaction?? I haven't watched through the videos so maybe there are other non Germans but that guy appears everywhere, so tedious!

I think they'll do fairly well in the Slovenian one.. we usually have a couple of more mainstream jurors who like more radio-friendly songs, but we also have a couple of them who really like these indie-pop songs.. so top 5 from the Slovenian jury is almost certain!

William is in every German reaction video... I don’t know why our broadcaster invited him; he seems to be everywhere!
(Having said that, I have no problem with William and I don’t mind w*w*bl****!)

I like the idea of mainstream media involving fan media in some way but not the same one person over and over. Feels like equating the whole Eurovision fanbase with an individual's opinion. I dont have anything against him personally (which some people seem to) or begrudge him for taking the opportunities. I used to follow his site until a couple of years ago when they became a caricature of themselves. The sense of community disappeared.

Just saw that the 'wiwi jury' gave this a 6.1. How typical. This might be the most sophisticated and mature song from this year and to me it says a lot that these so called 'jurors' from wiwibloggs don't like it. I really don't want to hurt anyone, but I just can't stand all these childish Eurovision fans with their McDonalds music tastes.

Well the German broadcaster jury wasn’t any better as I mentioned above. And they are not the typical ESC bubble.
But agreed, anything below 7 is a shame.

I understand what you are saying about McDonalds music taste. I also agree about Belgium (and I think also The Netherlands) have the most mature and sophisticated music this ESC. BUT Music is also there for happiness and enjoyment. And especially ESC is not just for mature music, I think, it should be an expression for experience. But some countries don't dare to send something bold, I wish they would.

Don't have to feel butthurt about it. weeweebloggs never claimed to be a professional music critic site anyway. Their "jury" score is just for fun anyway. I used to watch it just for entertainment value. But now, not so much.

This version of the song is so beautiful. xheart

There will be no changes in my top-2 before the competition.
I rarely give songs a 12, but it's definitely :12:

I agree. Eurovision is not an academic competition. The songs are appreciated by the public not only for strong vocals, quality music and literate lyrics.

If people want to listen to the song several times, it will receive points.
If people want to dance to a song, it will receive points.
If the song is remembered and cheers up, it will receive points.

Is a Slavic church choir with a gorgeous profundo bass part beautiful and high-quality music? Of course. But would people want to listen to it every day? I doubt it.

Therefore, some good songs, like North Macedonia 2019, often get high jury scores, but don't get much from the audience.
There are exceptions. Sometimes a message or an artist's personal history can mean a lot, and then the hardest song for perception takes the first place.
But Eurovision remains a contest of popular music :)

I'm really worried for them. Geike sounds brilliant live, there's almost no difference between the studio song and the live version of the song. If only I could vote in semi 1 I'd no doubt vote for Belgium. It is probably my most listened song in this ESC2021 season.

I feel like those preview shows are all within their own bubble. One person gives a certain amount of points and only with a few exceptions, the others join in with a similar opinion. So sometimes you end up with songs that are top 10 in one show, while the same song is bottom 10 in another show.

Not saying the panels are complete garbage. The icelandic show did have North Macedonia quite high in 2019. But at the same time, they only gave 26 points to Duncan Laurence while giving 33 to Sarah McTernan.
The norwegian show had North Macedonia very low, while Tamta received the highest points out of all songs.

With those 16 points in the norwegian show, Belgium will probably end up last place in the whole show. Not sure if I can take this seriously if Slovenia received 66 points. Thats even more than France got.
