Re: BELGIUM 2012

but I prefer to stay optimistic.

Me too :)!

I don't think the VRT & RTBF won't organise a common national final not because of the political crisis, but both are just not interested in working together (I think). Actually, it is not that difficult to work together as both channels have their HQ in the same building, they just need to cross the hallway :D.

Belgium: Kate Ryan interested in making a comeback

The Belgian queen of dance and pop music Kate Ryan, who represented Belgium at the 2006 Eurovision Song Contest with the song Je t'adore, has recently given an interview to Belgian eurovision website eurosong.be where she reveals that she will be ready to go to Eurovision. Kate Ryan is among Belgium's most sought after artists enjoying great name internationally specially in France, Spain, Germany and Poland.
Kate Ryan said that if Belgian broadcaster VRT,approached her to represent Belgium, she would consider it and go for it again despite her dissapointing result in 2006 in Athens. Despite her poor result at the 2006 Eurovision Song Contest in Athens, the Belgian beauty has gone places since, thus achieving an international career which has both give her name and fame overseas as well as at home soil in Belgium.

Kate Ryan is currently touring Europe promoting her latest album. She recently released her latest single. Will she be back at the Eurovision Song Contest? Will she represent Belgium or another country?

Kate just will want back beacuse now with the juries involved in the voting, she will be inspired to return, feeling that she'll get a fair go. Her exit in 2006 probably still rates as the worst example of bloc votings in semis and was really the starting point of the entire problem.

Re: BELGIUM 2012

I'll repeat this again. Gawd forbids.
I still associate her with orange because of that dress and sunburn.

oh, and if she blames our taste and labels us as brainless voters then I will never vote for her as well as other people here xshrug

The juries have been introduced in 2009. Is she retarded?

Belgium 2006 is similar to Norway 2011: everyone expected it to do very well, instead it failed miserably in the semis. In my opinion, it's one of those things that you just have to live with and I'm actually not sure if the juries would have liked "Je t'adore".

I've said it earlier in this thread, I think Kate Ryan is pretty bland live performer and her biggest hits - which I love - are just dance remixes of French classics (like "Ella Elle l'a", "Voyage Voyage" or "Désenchantée"). I love her latest single "LoveLife", but again it's pretty much a dance remix of Narcotic's "Liquido". Her original songs are *much* less impressive, and IMO "Je t'adore" isn't a very good song.

Re: BELGIUM 2012

THERE WILL BE NEWS SOON ON THE BELGIAN PARTICIPANT.

I saw an interview from eurosong.be some days ago from an event in Belgium & in the Suggestionsbar I saw an interview from eurosong.be on the same event with the man after the selectionteam. I clicked on it but it was private & some hours after It I went searching for it again & didn't find it anymore. Watch this space..

Even more interesting is that Kate Ryan posted on her facebook that there will be some special news on next tuesday. TOMORROW :D
Now the most exciting part is... Will it just be about her album or maybe about eurovision?! I don't know but i've a feeling she's in for 2012

Re: BELGIUM 2012

If they were 2 sf's in 2006, she would have passed :(

Sure, but I think she still would've flopped in the final. I never got why "Je t'adore" was a favourite that year...
I've said it before, and I'm saying it again, Kate Ryan's good at remixing old songs and producing dancefloor hits with them. She's very average when it comes to entirely new songs (which form a tiny part of her repertoire).

So, like seb89, I'm not thrilled at Kate Ryan coming back, if the rumour comes true. But I may change my mind with her song, and she's guaranteed to garner interest from the rest of Europe. That's nice of course!

True! ;)

I haven't listened to many of her songs but I agree that her songs aren't extremely good. However I like Je t'adore a lot. But the fact that her "new" songs aren't good, I don't think it's her fault unless she's writing them. With some good composers and Kate, Belgium can do well. :)

Re: BELGIUM 2012

Sorry guys I've to dissapoint you for this time..

The special announcement from Kate I was talking about is that she will be a special guest together with Bart Peeters (The host of Eurosong --> Flemmish preselection before the internal selections) In the concerts of Milk Inc
& The Interview with the man from the VRT I was talking about is about that the new rule that says that all the preselections must've at least a little bit of choice for the people of the country (chosing the artist or song or both) ISN'T SURE ABOUT COMING. And If it'll come IT ISN'T SURE TO BE THERE ALREADY IN 2012. But If it will be there, The VRT will have an artist with 2 songs we can chose of
