Let me be your halo
'Cause we've been through hell and back in only one night
Let me be your halo
'Cause heaven can't wait for us to finish the fight

We don't need a Hercules to bring a man down to his knees
No more apologies
Philosophers like Socrates define yourself, think on your feet
Go sharpen your teeth

We can be CEO
Yeah, you already know
Yeah, we can be the boss
Fly higher than the Gods
We're not under control
And no, no, not anymore
If you feel me, then put your hands up

Let me be your halo
'Cause we've been through hell and back in only one night
Let me be your halo
'Cause heaven can't wait for us to finish the fight

And I'm stronger than angels
I'm fearless in danger
And I will bring dark to the light
Let me be your halo
'Cause we've been through hell and back in only one night

I think I had the right idea
Beautiful, something to feel
For a hundred years
We're gonna be written among the stars
Posing so we're hustling young queens

We can be CEO
Yeah, you already know
Yeah, we can be the boss
Fly higher than the Gods
We're not under control
And no, no, not anymore
If you feel me, then put your hands up

Let me be your halo
'Cause we've been through hell and back in only one night
Let me be your halo
'Cause heaven can't wait for us to finish the fight

And I'm stronger than angels
I'm fearless in danger
And I will bring dark to the light
Let me be your halo
'Cause we've been through hell and back in only one night

La-la-la-la-la-la
La-la-la-la-la-la
La-la-la-la-la-la
La-la-la-la-la-la

Don't need no
La-la-la-la-la
La-la-la-la-la-la
La-la-la-la-la-la
La-la-la-la-la-la

Let me be your halo
'Cause we've been through hell and back in only one night
Let me be your halo
'Cause heaven can't wait for us to finish the fight

And I'm stronger than angels
I'm fearless in danger
And I will bring dark to the light
Let me be your halo
'Cause we've been through hell and back in only one night

I listened carefully to the performance again. It is interesting that the backing track is apparently still being worked on. It now has a few seconds lead before Pia Maria starts. I've been wondering how she's supposed to know when to kick in when the song starts so suddenly. The prelude cannot be heard on the official track, nor on the karaoke version.

I dont think they going to use this prelude in Turin.

If she can't sing well, I foremost blame the people who chose her, the ORF and her label, not herself. She is young and inexperienced, so if she is not a good singer, she overestimated her abilities. It would have been the job of the professionals responsible for the Austrian entry to evaluate if she is a suitable singer or not.

I'm hoping for the best and that everything will work fine in Turin. She doesn't need vocals like Ochman for this kind of song anyway. It just needs to sound okay, not vocally stunning like the entries from Poland or Australia, for example, that heavily rely on perfect vocals.

I'm not an expert but I've been told that before a performance artists hear a ticking noise in their in-ears like a metronome on beat with their song giving them a clue when to start (could be bs though, can't remember who told me that)

It is one bad performance though. Let's see if she gives other bad performances - we can't take one isolated live performance as a true sign of what the entry will be like on the Turin stage.

None of us know the factors that might have affected this performance. She was out of breath, but was that caused by something else? We just don't know. I'm just thinking the hysteria about this one performance being completely indicative of how the song will sound at ESC is a bit much.

Similarly, I'm not denying that it is a concerning development. But let's calm down to a gentle riot and allow the official rehearsal schedule to show us a true picture of what Austria's ESC package is (since until now we've really only had a bangin' studio cut with masses of vocal processing and after-production to poison our minds with expectation haha!)

To me it sounded like nerves got the best of her. Her voice was obviously shakey. She made mistakes and after that she fell apart on stage like shit in the rain. 😞
Best thing would be to try to give her some confidence boost, although after a bad performance it would be hard. She should try a shot of vodka before performance.
She's an 18 year old with zero stage experience.
Also, someone posted she had laryngitis, that would also explain why there was playback in London.

Like I said it will be compensated well. What I am more afraid of (thus my prediction some weeks ago) is she isn't able to connect with the audience. It doesn’t felt convincing in the music video and it does even less on stage. You need to be a Chanel to make a tune like this work.
I don't agree. The tune is not Chanel material, imo. She would probably also look akward. I'm thinking more someone like early Dua Lipa. You don't have to be a great dancer it anything, but having some coolness and edge.
Also, Pia Maria's outfits are horrendous. They scream 45 year old elementary school teacher, not fun teenager with a cool upbeat EDM song.

Anyway, it can go only up from here. Can't wait to see it in ESC.

I am actually not thrilled to see them all flying crossover Europe. I ALWAYS catch a cold on a plane.

Putting an inexperienced singer on a big stage was risqué from the get-go. Even more risqué than the EDM bop. I really would consult hypnosis therapy to calm the nerves.

@Datura please report our opinions to ORF. We want this act to WEERRRK!!!

If we flop in the semi, it would be outrageous given the fan support this song has received already. It would not only be a major heartbreak after all this hype, but also a loss to the Grand Final, and a loss for ORF. Viewing figures cut in half for a Saturday night.

We don't demand victory, but making us proud.

I need to recover from the losses of Telemovéis and Limits in 2019.

I only see one more chance. We need ORF's vocal coach Monika Ballwein and she has to pull out all the stops. She has worked wonders with singers in the past.

ORF is in full blown krisis kontrol mode ALREADY. And Eberhard Forcher also delivered some excuses for Pia Maria.

Pia Maria will receive a lot of vocal coaching by Monika Ballwein, she will also get in-ear training and they will lower the key of the song to reduce the vocal stress.

Agreed. First of all, for health reasons. Why put yourself in (Covid) situations that could become health risks.

Secondly, most pre-parties are no serious shows without a big stage, not comparable sound engineering. Most acts are destined to fail. They try to party on stage, shenanigans, don't care about voice. Others feel uncomfortable being so close to the public, standing still, coming across as stiff. Either way they are doing themselves no favor. It also ruins the image we have of an artist.

It's encouraging to see ORF putting blood, sweat and tears into this year's act, which has not been the case for the last 3 years. I hope it pays off. Nothing more frustrating than no pay off for an audacious choice and a lot of effort to make it work.

I caught Covid on a plane last December.

Austro Rapper RAF Camora is once again topping the Top 40

I wonder if he would ever consider Eurovision. He would harvest the Balkan and French vote.

What I gather from Eberhard Forcher's statement is that Monika Ballwein was apparently present at the studio recordings. Apparently, in the run-up to the live performance, lowering the key was discussed and Monika Ballwein was against it because it wasn't a problem for Pia Maria in the studio. Monika Ballwein seemed surprised by the problems in Tel Aviv. I have complete confidence in Monika Ballwein. With her sophisticated methods, she always delivers very fast amazing results.
