Let me be your halo
'Cause we've been through hell and back in only one night
Let me be your halo
'Cause heaven can't wait for us to finish the fight

We don't need a Hercules to bring a man down to his knees
No more apologies
Philosophers like Socrates define yourself, think on your feet
Go sharpen your teeth

We can be CEO
Yeah, you already know
Yeah, we can be the boss
Fly higher than the Gods
We're not under control
And no, no, not anymore
If you feel me, then put your hands up

Let me be your halo
'Cause we've been through hell and back in only one night
Let me be your halo
'Cause heaven can't wait for us to finish the fight

And I'm stronger than angels
I'm fearless in danger
And I will bring dark to the light
Let me be your halo
'Cause we've been through hell and back in only one night

I think I had the right idea
Beautiful, something to feel
For a hundred years
We're gonna be written among the stars
Posing so we're hustling young queens

We can be CEO
Yeah, you already know
Yeah, we can be the boss
Fly higher than the Gods
We're not under control
And no, no, not anymore
If you feel me, then put your hands up

Let me be your halo
'Cause we've been through hell and back in only one night
Let me be your halo
'Cause heaven can't wait for us to finish the fight

And I'm stronger than angels
I'm fearless in danger
And I will bring dark to the light
Let me be your halo
'Cause we've been through hell and back in only one night

La-la-la-la-la-la
La-la-la-la-la-la
La-la-la-la-la-la
La-la-la-la-la-la

Don't need no
La-la-la-la-la
La-la-la-la-la-la
La-la-la-la-la-la
La-la-la-la-la-la

Let me be your halo
'Cause we've been through hell and back in only one night
Let me be your halo
'Cause heaven can't wait for us to finish the fight

And I'm stronger than angels
I'm fearless in danger
And I will bring dark to the light
Let me be your halo
'Cause we've been through hell and back in only one night

I didn’t expect it to be so bad. I love the studio version, but if she sings like that it will be a flop. Let’s hope for some improvement!

Thing is, the Eurovision performance will be rehearsed and staged in such a way so as to not have her bouncing and walking about the stage if that causes breathing and stamina issues. I believe that she can hold a tune, so the staging team play a massive role in ensuring that she is comfortable enough to sing competently without causing the over-excitement and stamina-issues that were evident here. This performance was a completely different kind of staging to what the Eurovision performance will be, and I think we need to give whoever is in charge of the staging the benefit of the doubt that they'll use the knowledge gained from these performances to tailor the ESC staging to maximise the vocal output.
Tell that to Roxen and Lesley Roy.

I've only watched a 1.5 minute video cause I guess they aren't allowed to even upload a live performance so I don't know how she exactly sounded in every part, but what I heard was nowhere near as terrible as some pretend it is. She was really out of breath and pitchy but far from terrible.

Even if the vocals improve, I don't think it is going to qualify. If they have a great and fun performance I don't think people will care too much about the vocals, but I just don't see it happening it doesn't seem to have a big televoting appeal and the juries won't vote for it anyway.

I definitely don’t see it like that - with decent vocals and sound it can get a more than decent televoting result and also a good Jury result

With vocals like that she will only be CEO of one of those Russian companies that are crashing and burning because of the sanctions.

I think it's just one of those times in life, when covid is the best-case scenario. Why was she out of breath? Oh, she has covid! Poor girl! Get better soon! Did they already release a statement that she has covid? No? Nothing?
Maybe they should.

Surely they wouldn't cast a singer for a live performance on stage in front of an audience of millions of people, the biggest exposure by far this song will ever get, if the singer cannot even sing the song. That would be ludicrous and beyond unprofessional.

I watched the performance last night in it's entirety. I've had reservations about this song sounding weak on the Eurovision stage, but I did not expect it to sound that bad last night. The vocals were very very poor... like a random person grabbed a mic off a DJ in a local pub kind of poor.
The semi final is less than 5 weeks away, I have no doubt Lumix and Pia Maria will improve their act but I'm not sure if Austria can get this song to where it needs to be in this short length of time.

Listening to the official karaoke versions, Austria is gonna abuse the backing vocal rules a lot this year. So much for the "no main vocals on the backing track" rule xshrug

Maybe they could have backing singers on stage with Pia Maria just miming. Then she could focus on engaging with the camera and the audience.

Holy moly. Austria is in my top 5, I really love the song. Yes, preparties doesn't mean much, I know, but what I heard from last night is quite frustrating. If Pia really doesn't have much stage experience, why then did they pick her in the first place? I still hope that she can fix that within the short amount of time that is left. :(

Ouch.. Even with some technical problems this was still very far off.

I mean there must be a reason why they selected her? She must be able to sing?

Well, if Austria flops because of Pia Maria, I am pretty sure ORF is bowing out of Eurovision 2023. The video and promo tour are expensive but their Saturday night program would have low rating for the third year in a row. Eberhard Forcher was so excited back in December

What I heard wasn't as bad as people say it is. Everything that was off was mainly due to her inexperience and bad singing technique. She needs a vocal coach. Don't know if that will fix everything until May though. But in general she has potential, she has an interesting voice and power behind it. She doesn't know how to really use it.

In other words, she is not necessarily a bad singer, she is just really inexperienced what ended up in singing the song really badly during Israel Calling.
I hope ÖRF already worked with a vocal coach for her otherwise they were delusional but if this is what it ended up in after a few months of vocal coaching after picking her as a singer, it isn't going to do the job until Turin. Unfortunately.

I feel bad for her though because public reaction seems really harsh but... it was just that bad.

The management of the two were asked what happened. Günther Unger claimed that her in-ears didn't work and that she had laryngitis.

The "Kleine Zeitung" reports that she cried after her performance, but not because of her performance, but because she was told what had happened earlier in Tel Aviv.

I also want to state that Pia Maria is just 18 years old. That was her second time on a stage. We should not be too harsh. She seems to be a very nice girl with a very positive attitude. Still she seems a bit shy to me.
I have the trust again that they will fix it. There is still enough time for a good coaching and extensive rehearsals. Also you cant compare Israel Calling with the ESC when it comes to technical possibilities.
Okay we cant expect to hear a stunning voice in Turin but that song also will work with an ok voice.

And thats not a joke: last night I dreamed that I was with their management discussing how to react after that performance. at the end they decided to change Pia Maria's hair colour to a decent one.

Imo the performance wasn't that bad. It wasn't good either, tho. Her voice was shaky and she sounded nervous but she can work on that. The song is a bop and I would like to see them in the final because of the song.

Don't worry. This song is driven by the beat. It does not need the most talented singer. She was very nervous and somehow she seemed to be concerned about something, maybe she really could not hear anything. For me this is a sure qualifier no matter what will happen.
