This may be right in your case (and probably in others as well), but I wouldn't generalize that. Some people (and not a small number) hide their homophobic views on Conchita behind a fake criticism on her song or her singing abilities.

I feel like Azerbaijan is more supportive of Conchita in general than the rest of former Socialist Eastern European countries.

I don't know how close relations are with neighbouring Iran, but there manly gays are not tolerated, but effeminate gays and transgender people are very much appreciated. Their laws even encourage gay people to undergo gender swapping surgery which goes too far, because gay people don't necessarily are feeling like women, but that's the only way of acceptance in Iran.

Yes, that is true. I have never seen any negative news about Conchita Wurst in Azeri media. In the end it is Conchita's choice and it is up to Austria to decide whom to send to the contest.

As for the second part of your comment, I must admit that the society in Azerbaijan, unlike Iran, does not tolerate feminine guys and transgender people that much, however, it is comparatively more tolerant towards manly gays and bi persons.
