I disagree wholeheartedly! Did you actually listen to her voice? The song? It was incredible. She commanded the stage more than anyone last night. Fact. You should be moaning about Armenia coming 4th - he was shocking and barely sang a note right...! It's a massive step because it was ALL about the song. No gimmicks, no dancers, no trampolines or roller bladers...she stood there and did what few did! So she had a beard? So what! Most entrants would be passionate and emotional! She has the right to, just like anyone else!

She absolutely owned the stage and you could feel how she enjoyed every second, every verse...... pure selfconfidence, pure perfection. She always dreamed of the Eurovision and deeply inhaled the athmosphere. Everybody could see how she loved what she's doing and so she sailed to victory....

Anna Vissi, one of her biggest Eurovision idols, were the first to congratulate her.

I fully agree with this, People who tried to minimize her victory are more focus in the beard than the actually voters. If the performance was a parody or joke I would understand it, but it was classy, perfectly sung and very emotive. People can like it or not, but can't say that it was a joke or just a beard on the satge, no way. It's not been the first not the last time that a drag was on stage, let's remember Drama Queen 2007 ... did she win because it was a drag ? No!

At least It's a better winner than last year and i like them both.

Eurovision was televised in Panama, any other country outside Europe?

Well whole LatinAmerica can see it through TVE International, that's how I used to watch it when I was kiving in Peru. It become quite popular there and the results are reported by the media every year.

I don't care, Eurovision goes on without my country too!* :D I'M SO HAPPY! Good night and sleep well with the Shining twins...

*And for many obscene comments about Eurovision, maybe my country doesn't deserve it :geek:

I hoped after Lena Meyer Landrut and Loreen ESC will become a modern festival, but this is a BIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIg step backward! :( :( :( :( :( :( :(

I can’t believe this happened, I’m still under shock this dated entry with below average vocal skills won!

I wouldn’t be surprised if next year Valentina Monetta wins with Ralph Siegel’s composition! That is the trend in ESC it seems :?

At least she can sing! xfacepalm
If a man has a fantasy and wants to be as a woman, wants to play sometimes the role of woman, than shaving is the first thing he do in order to look and feel like a woman. The "bearded woman" is just a good marketing product. She horrifies all but all are crowding the circus to see her. Leaving aside this element of "props" (the beard), the Austrian package was complete: it had song, vocals, had show. That's why won.

I'm really thrilled about Conchita winning. She absolutely deserved this! What an amazing performance! :-)

I hope she will host next year's ESC. That would be another huge step in the history of Eurovision. Then the beard wouldn't be a novelty anymore and it would not get much attention anymore. She would just be hosting the show like so many women and men before here. True tolerance would mean that everyone just accepts her beard like they accept the beard of Pilou, who btw looks much better with a beard than without. Anyone disagreeing? No? Good. Beard for the win! ;-)

I don't mind when people dislike this winning purely through not liking the song, but seeing comments about their dislike of the LGBT side of things is sad. The same people likely had no problems with Dana International or Marija Serifovic but as soon as you add a beard and nothing else people lose their freaking minds xgaah

I also think Thomas's beard is a statement that he really wanted to be known and succeed in the music industry. I cannot blame him for wanting to get attention and be famous. The beard associated with a woman proved to be a successful marketing idea. Unusual person make people curious.

Dana International consider herself a woman and she tried her best to be a woman . Beautiful, not so appealing, fat or slim... it doesn't matter, she is a woman. Thomas is a man who wanted to get attention. You cannot say "Conchita" looks like a woman, Tom doesn't even try to look like a woman, he tries to perform as an unique character. He wanted Conchita’s character to stand out, not even trying to stand in. Dana was perceived as a woman, “Conchita” as a freak female character. Anyway, I voted for Austria cause the performance was good, especially in the Semi2.

Dana succeeded while standing in, Tom succeeded in showbiz only by standing out, getting attention. It's really a difference between Dana, Marija and Thomas.

Well, this year, I cried two times. First, when she won. Second, when I read the comments on Internet.

So, it's time for me to pay tribute to the first ever Eurovision drag-queen, Jonny Nymoen, and to thank all the drag acts for putting so much sunshine in my life :

Leaving aside this element of "props" (the beard), the Austrian package was complete: it had song, vocals, had show. That's why won.

In the semi final winners Press Conference a reporter asked Conchita if she was going to become a woman, Conchita went on to say that 'I don't want to be a woman, I'm a very lazy boy at home and a working queen'
Conchita does not want to be a woman, Conchita is a performer, she is a Drag Act and most drag acts are just that. Drag, in laymans terms, "Drag is used for any clothing carrying symbolic significance but usually referring to the clothing associated with one gender role when worn by a person of another gender"
There are many Drag Acts who wear facial hair "Mathu Andersen" is one.
So that's all I want to say, I don't think you were trying to be rude but I just wanted to state that.

I also think that the Austrian package was fully complete. The song, vocal and performance were all perfect and I am extremely happy she won.

(I want to add that I am not trying to attack you because I agree on your statement as a whole but I wanted to say that because a lot of people are mistaking the fact that she is a drag performer)
