I was told at six years old
They'd avoid me if my heart was cold
Found it hard to talk and speak my mind
They'd never like the things that I would like

'Cause you're told to play, but you're not the same
As the other kids playing the same game
Tried to jump on in, but they push away
So far away

I'm not the same, no
I'm not the same, no

Years go by, I tried and tried
My father asked if today I smiled
I said, "Yes I did", but that's a lie
Oh, I always tell those lies

And you run and hide, hide the break inside
Do you realise that the light shines bright?
Through those, oh, who broke inside

I'm not the same, no
I'm not the same, no
I'm not the same, no
I'm not the same, no

'Cause you never want to be a kind of person
You can work it for those ones who cannot word it
Because you've been the kind of person who felt this pain
Yeah, I felt this pain

So you're gonna leave the pain and find another way to make yourself another game
Maybe one for all to play
'Cause it's not just me who's not the same
We are not the same

I'm not the same, no
We are not the same, no
We are not the same, no
We are not the same, no

I just had a look and besides Isaiah, Charley and Jaguar doesn't seem like the rest are signed to any major labels? I wonder if Sheldon is already in talks with Sony right now, and maybe has a deal dependant on him winning this Saturday?

God no, why does it have to be this Saturday? I hope I’ll be able to tune in

VPN my friend, VPN. Also have to make an account with the SBS website to watch their channels and content (worth it), but I guess you know that.

Why can’t you watch? Work commitments?

PS: Is anyone going to see KEiiNO in Sydney?

PPS: Anyone here going to the show (final) can you rock/dance out to KEiiNO on my behalf?

I am so sad since the odds seem to have Sheldon as the clear winner. :( Would love to see Voyager winning this. Such a fantastic song that I keep listening to over and over again.
I agree that Sheldon looks like the clear favourite at the moment... but at this point I think his odds for the NF win are *too* short. Looking at Betfair, he was last backed at 1.26, which I feel is pretty much always too short for NF winner odds unless you have a *lot* of stuff all pointing in the one direction (e.g. you've already seen the live performance and know it's amazing, or there are detailed SF results available showing a huge win, or there are no other strong songs in the running, etc.)

None of those factors apply here, on top of which there's the tendency of Australian televoters to prefer upbeat entries over ballads. And while I think Sheldon is still the likely winner despite all that, there are a lot of unknowns that could change things.

With that in mind, I do think Voyager have a slightly better chance than the odds suggest! Something like 20% in my mind, with their path to the win being something like "good running order slot + brilliant live performance = strong televote", or "backup winner if they're at least decent live + Sheldon disappoints".

Thank you for pointing out some of the crucial issues. Let's say I cling to hope that the live performance of Voyager will be amazing and fresh! I keep my fingers so crossed. Would be my most favorite entry of the season without a doubt.

It is also possible though that very little people have actually placed their bets on anything so it would be enough for one person who bet a huge sum on Sheldon to distort the bookies odds by it. The bookies want to earn cash and not end up as those who pay more than earn through lost bets.

I couldn’t see it live in 2020 either, but I remember you could stream it live back in 2019 without VPN?

I have the first exam of the semester on Friday, then I’ll likely travel on Saturday because there’s holiday here now. Only there’s one meter snow and awful conditions here in the west, so we’ll see. I mean, I guess I could watch it live, but I don’t have that much 4G tbh, lol. If we were to travel, then I hope I can somehow tune in when the voting is announced.

Though when does the show start CET on Saturday?

Listening through the 11 songs competing and well, this might be the weakest line-up of AD ever. But there are a few decent ones.

Voyagers "Dreamer has some cool parts in the song. But I lack the hook in the song, it falls short from that climax and I happen to feel absolutely nothing when I hear it. It feels like the song falls back into the verse than to push the song forward to a cool crescendo. I expect more of an experienced rock group like Voyager seems to be. This feels a bit like a mess to me, even if I still see it as in my top 3 in AD 22.

Sheldon Rileys "Not The Same is pretty nice, his voice is absolutely stunning. I would like the song to pick up power earlier in the song, but maybe he can bring it live. Though, it has to be something exciting to look at or else this will feel rather boring for the viewers.

Jaguar Jonze has an another good song in "Little Fires". Maybe not as strong as last time, but this is so cool, like Natalie Imbruglia meets Radiohead. Very sweet and edgy in the same time. Expecting a really strong performance from her, this is the song to send Australia! xlove

To be honest, I see so many into "Dreamer" and I tried to listen to it again and I can't help to feel absolutely nothing. It isn't modern. It isn't powerful. It isn't even nostalgic. It is just noise. And this is from a person that is always open for rock in ESC, but this ain't rock. I see it as a bunch of old guys trying to sound "modern" by adding some electronic sound to it. It isn't a bad try though, it has some moments, but as I wrote in my earlier post, it feels like the song isn't progressing at all, just falls back to the same baseline....

To me "Dreamer" is one of the best songs we had FOR YEARS at ESC (or rather NFs). You can like it or not, but I understand something completely different when you label it as "just noise". If this is noise, I wonder what Death Metal is to you. xqueenbitch

Of course you are allowed to like it, I am just curious what it is you like with it, cause I want to understand what it is people see in it? As I wrote, I am a big rockfan and like everything from death metal down to the very softest of rock. Hey, I even had Måneskin as my number 2 in the end after France last year and Finland was in my top 10 as well. I even had Hungary as my number one 2018. I like rock that brings power, strength, emotion into it.

But I am also a rock fan that expects good rock to be in. I want lyrics that fits to the melody, a melody that brings out the meaning of the song and makes it believable. And that goes for all genres, even those I don't normally listen to like folk, jazz or hiphop. I want the best of the best to compete on the worlds biggest stage and for me, I don't see it in Dreamer. At least not yet, perhaps they bring it hard live and I will sit there saturday morning, screaming at the computer "FINALLY I GET IT!"...but I doubt it... xthink

Okay, I didn't know that you are very open-minded towards so many genres. Well, to me "Dreamer" is a very unique song that combines electronic with rock. Okay there might be many other bands doing this also, but I like the vibe of the instruments and how those are arranged, especially how the guitar "reacts" to the other instruments (I play guitar myself). I grew up with progressive rock bands (my favorite being the band "Asia") and Voyager belongs to the genre. I think that at ESC we had many different kinds of Rock/Metal bands so far, but never a song like "Dreamer". To me it's just very special. :) And on Saturday I will be very sad if Sheldon will be the one winning. :(

At this moment I think Sheldon should win this. The hype is real around the international fans with many reaction videos. I'm freaking sure he can bring the best result to Australia since Dami.

Ps: being gay is NOT a sob story. A homosexual person is like any other person, only with divergent sexual preferences .THAT'S IT! Stop acting like it's a special trait, or worse, a fucking TRAUMA. #NORMALIZEHOMOSEXUALITYNOW
You should try to live in a country where gay people can be imprisoned & punished for JUST BEING GAY.
