Looks like Australia's luck is up to juries for one more year!

So because eurofans don't like it that means it'll do bad on the televote? People hearing it for the first time with no baggage will likely react very differently.

I agree but look Australia's history on televoting! I currently cannot see this doing well on televoting!

What is with Australia's history on televoting? In the semis they had 142, 21 and 82 points.

And those results are really not amazing
Sure we can rave about the quality of their entries but we have yet to see Australia really kill the televote

142 in the semi is pretty great lol

the point is, australia was top 10 televote in two out of three semifinals. this "australia needs the jury to not NQ" narrative has no foundation in reality. KMH is not in a televote hole, not in the semi at least. she can easily qualify even without overwhelming jury support.

This song is more like a televote bait than the jury vote for me. I don't get why people think this song will tank with the televote.

Although I love Electric Fields I am happy now Australia chose this. It is not among my top 10 but it is definitely one of the songs I am really looking forward to see it on the big stage. And it really stands out. Could do much better than expected.

History is only valid if the current entry has something in common with the previous entries. It doesn't. All other Australian entries have had strong similarities in that they are generally radio friendly and (perhaps deliberately) try to impress the jury. Zero Gravity is the most televote friendly entry they have ever sent. I'm more concerned if the juries will connect with this. It's reassuring that the juries in Australia Decides gave her first place (since I expected her to win the televote), but it was far closer than the televote.

The crux of the matter is that in terms of reception and results, this is arguably the most unpredictable song of the year. We have to wait until the night of the first semi to truly get an idea of how the general public view this, but it could win, it could NQ and it could do anything in between that.

:0: points. It's my last place this year. I think I won't be even able to listen to it for a second time.
My wish for 2020? - Australia getting back to internal selection.

Can't remember Samantha Jade being part of it :D

Nah, Australia did a great job 2015 to 2018 (songs wise)... but the 2019 entry is utterly horrendous :D

You would call 2017 and 2018 a "good job"? Interesting. It's also weird putting a big smiley face to the word "horrendous". Like you take some joy in this entry being as bad as you perceive it to be.

Actually, I do believe that 2017 and 2018 were good entries by well-established and popular artists. The (vocal) performances were just tragic but the entries themselves were great, catchy, top-notch productions. "Zero Gravity" honestly is just utterly horrendous to me. I tried to like it (especially since I support and promote Australia's participation in Eurovision) but it's just weird and very off-putting to me.

Me putting the big smiley face is just me being pity. When I'm online, I use it a lot.. I think it's a relict of my MSN days where I put "; ) or :D" at the end of every other line.

+ I was told by a friend to use more smilies to make my messages "more friendly" to others xD

australia needs to never internally select again this NF was great and anything in the top 3 would have been incredible in eurovision and easily their best ever non-dami entry (sound of silence slaps the end).

zero gravity remains incredible and interesting to me just as it did on first listen. NOTHING HOLDING ME DOWN NOW NOTHING HOLDING ME DOWN

I have no idea how it will do at ESC but what I’m sure about is that there’s huge meme potential in this entry.
I’m wondering what they’ll come up with for staging in may. Get ready for hilarious memes.

I'm more concerned if the juries will connect with this.

I think this will connect well with both juries and the televoters. EDM Popera is not easy to make palatable, but she does it so well and so effortlessly. We also can't ignore that she's a fantastic opera singer, and I'm sure jury members are well aware of this.

I am quite confident that after the very first rehearsal, she will jump in the odds dramatically and people will soon realize what a gem this really is.

The song is extremely underated, but that's not bad actually......more room to blow everyone away at the actual event.

Yeah that's my prediction
