Tumblr, mostly.
zero gravity will be a fascinating social experiment at eurovision. you just KNOW that if romania sent it the juries would all go "THANK U NEXT BITCH". but it's australia. will juries prove they were picking songs or will they pick flags like we think they do?

i kind of want laura bretan to defeat bella santiago in selectia nationala just for the direct comparison now lol.

I *think* it will balance itself out to some degree. Australia Bias will ensure that some televoters are turned off, but Kate will still do well with them because it's such a show-stopping song. Likewise, I think the jurors will be reluctant to vote for her, but I also don't think they will *downvote* her (ie: put her last). Overall, i think she'll get a lot of low scores from the juries (2-3 points) and several high points (6s-7s-8s) from the televoters. That should be sufficient to qualify for the finale, but top 10 is a bit of a stretch imo.

If La Forza could only manage 8th, I struggle to see how this poor man’s projection dress + accompanying song could do any better.
There are opera elements in both (and that heavy dress), I give you that but except for that ZG is way more experimental with its pop elements whereas LF was a classical opera song (as was Italy 2015) and methinks thats why I didn't score any higher. I don't think it makes sense to compare these too much.

Given that the juries have thrown points at undeserving Australian songs like confetti the past two years I think people saying this won't qualify are kidding themselves (this should have way more televote pull than either Isaiah or Jessica too)

Ridiculous performance, in a really bad way, and messy song.

Can we get a good song? This year is starting to look not so promising :/

It's amazing how things can be so different, isn't it? I felt the same last year, but this year has been excellent so far(imo). Could turn for the first, but I'm 4/6 in NFs so far.

Shame you don't really have anything you like yet, though.

I'll give this 10 points, just because Kate blew me away and I already now love the staging and I know that they will improve it when we get to Tel Aviv.

That being said I was torn between Sheppard and Electric Fields with Kate as a good number 3, but after I saw the performances the only thing I wanted was to watch Kate's performance again! :D It's a bold choice, and hopefully it's the year where Australia can bounce back in televote.

Well, I'm sorry but this will need a huge revamp. So far, I can grant it :3: at the very least... This is an absolute train-wreck...

Interesting that many La Forza-Hater love this and La Forza-Lover hate this.
I give 7 Points to this.

Btw is there a Full Ranking of both Votings? Couldnt watch it.

That's a good point. I like most Opera-based entries, but I hated "La Forza" last year, but I absolutely love this.

This is actually true, I LOVED La Forza and enjoy opera songs in general but can't really get behind this one... at all

Okay; time for thoughts!

Song review: Some parts of the song are great - especially the buildup after the first chorus, in the second verse etc. I'm not a huge fan of the "ze-e-e-ro" parts, though, and the last minute feels like it loses a lot of the momentum that was built up so well until that point. Overall, I think it's a decent effort, and I'm thrilled to send something weird and different for once (we've escaped the title of "more Denmark than Denmark"!).

Kate herself seems lovely in all the interviews, and she's performed it pretty well (though she's either been assisted by playback in parts or performed certain notes really well with her mouth closed. Hmm). The staging was... a little over-egged, I think, though there's a lot of potential there. This could be super-messy or super-impactful on stage depending on what changes they make (or don't make). All in all, I'm giving a solid-but-not-amazing 7 points on the poll for now, which puts Kate alongside Miki and Jonida as my equal favourites from the current 6 songs. It's all incredibly close though, mind you - nothing I love yet, and nothing I dislike...

Runners-up: Ideally, I think I would've wanted Electric Fields to head to Tel Aviv. And they performed their song pretty well tonight. But I won't complain too much about them missing out, since I think they put up some red flags with that performance. For example, Michael's vocals weren't great, Zaachariaha had good charisma and was great fun to watch but had a somewhat messy stage presence (reminding me a little of Slavko in that manner), and there really wasn't much going on in the way of camera engagement. I'd still have chosen them over Kate, but I can see that there were some issues.

As for Mark – performance-wise, he stole the show for me tonight. Those vocals just overshadowed everything else (I got shivers), and I liked his song to begin with. But I was aware that he had virtually no chance anyway, so I'm not too shocked at his lower result. And I'm glad that Sheppard didn't quite make it, since they were competent but would've represented a fifth year of middle-of-the-road radio pop. The end result is then that Kate - despite being only my fifth favourite from the studio versions, and my third favourite from the night - is a decent winner in my eyes.

Predictions for Eurovision: I think it's very hard to say, honestly. This is clearly a controversial entry, but I count that as a good point - as far as televotes go, being the favourite song of a bunch of people is fine even if loads more people hate you. There's no anti-voting in Eurovision televotes! I was saying the same thing about Netta last year, and that certainly worked out for her. (Not saying Kate is going to win Eurovision, mind you - just that the same principle applies!)

In the end, I think it'll come down largely to what they do with that staging. There's a lot of potential there, but that includes potential for both a hugely impressive standout show and a flaming trainwreck. So at the moment... well, we could be top-10 or we could fail to qualify. Hard to say much past that.

NF thoughts: For a first national final, I was pretty happy with this! Strong song quality, mostly-good live performances, a nice-enough stage, a proper voting sequence and a good winner. The hosts and interval acts were a little lame at times, but on the whole I'm hoping that SBS sees good results from this and tries to set up another NF for next year; this was a fun experience.

Zero gravity.. more like zero points (in my opinion)

She gives me yodeling Heidi from Austria/Switzerland in Aliona Moons dress, which is interesting (in a bad way).

I'm glad I didn't watch now. :? :? Appalling winner from Australia and your worst entry yet by far. The entire thing from song to staging is one massive eyeroll. You had some great songs to pick from and ended up with this car crash that can't decide what sort of song it wants to be.
