Re: ARMENIA 2012

DELETED BY ADMIN: No attacks towards certain nations. Please refer to the board rules.

i remember reading at least 5-10 articles regarding azerbaijan attempting to impose all the security and requirements needed for an armenian entry. armenia delegates all agreed and accepted the terms, and then fell silent.
what do we get for allowing azerbaijan to enter? a more global contest, unity? armenia's refusal is a step back in the wrong direction.

the biggest shame about all of this is that with armenia gone, it gives a country like FYRM or Ukraine or god forbid Georgia, more chance to make the final.

They should give you a ban, for this comment ;)

Agree! Now the true colors of some (which have been obvious for many already) are showing.

As for these news, not shocked, but still disappointed, and a little surprised still. I honestly thought they would enter after all.

As for next year I guess it's best ESC will be held in a country that doesn't ban by law other ESC countries' citizens to even enter their territory in normal conditions (no offense but it's not like they were genuinely welcomed by the host in the first place, despite "efforts" being made). Now I'm not putting blame on Azerbaijan however for this (the laws are what they are and hopefully in the future there will be national changes aswell as progress made between the two countries), but EBU needs to stop being so money hungry and do some changes in their own rules however.

Maybe but then she could write a different comment! Now it looks she just want to provoke with her comment

as you are quite new here I'll explain to you that this drama has been continuing too long. And we expect everybody to be aware of this fact.

on one side I wanted them to come as we have to be able to maintain our relations somehow since we live in one world, on the other side I am also relived because all this tension is really stressful.

I am quite new here yes, but I know a lot about Eurovision, watching it every year, try to watch every national final of every country, and I collect mp3's of all natiuonals since 2000!
And I am just shocked, that anno 2012, politic situations can have such a big influence on musical contests!!! Music has no borders, music should unite people and countries, and what happens now is just so wrong!!!

ignorance, toltal ignorance. we don't ban any ESC citizens. Since when people from Nagorniy Karabagh are citizens of ESC? this law concerns only them and we have the right to do it as Karabagh is OUR land.

You seem not to know your own laws then

There's a general ban on Armenian citizens (not just from Nagorno-Kabarakh) (officials, diplomats etc. have other rules) which are only lifted on certain occasions to showcase another reality at times when the world's eyes are on (like ESC for instance): http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Visa_policy_of_Azerbaijan#Bans

In the perfect world??? Look at former Yugoslavia. They were in a war not so long ago and many massacres happened... And you see, even Bosnia went to Belgrade in 2008 and all of them are taking part together (and exchanging points ). Also Serbia was bombed by most ESC participating countries not so long ago. And we are here together :)

If Armenians and Azeris can't do it, it's just their fault, not this imperfect world's ;)

I'll miss Armenia this year but it's their decision and I respect it. See you next year :)

you'd better trust me than this wiki.
we don't ban any Armenians here, they come to different competition where we can guarantee their safety but when they come by themselves we usually refuse (not always - my neighborer's mother came to visit her son"s family for example without any problems ) we refuse as we cannot guarantee their safety. If anything happens to them, you know what kind of fuss will start?

So basically you do in fact ban normal visitors then, I don't buy the "safety" argument, the general ban is for other reasons.

And competitions are just show-off to the world, it means nothing.

And if you read my comment I talked about "general ban" but also noticed special occasions where the ban is lifted.

I meant that politics does not affect music in the perfect world. I did not say anything about what you wrote. You write that we should communicate but you cannot even understand what I mean by my message.

It's a shame and I hope Azerbaijan won't win the contest again. Is what they wanted, isn't it? So enjoy it

again, you are writing about the law, but we simply don't have such law. that's it.
how can I agree with you if we really don't have it.
