Re: ARMENIA 2012

^A-lister, if thats the case then shame on EBU.

I was actually shocked they refused Georgia to enter and then let Portugal'11 go with a very CLEAR political song.

Mono, Russia was the one who was refused Georgia 2009 entry to take part at ESC 2009. Bersides that song had put the relations between the two countries more strained after the war.

I don't think Russia needs to decide which songs enter  in EBU-rules they say the song may not have clear political accents, and that was the case in Georgia 2009

Re: ARMENIA 2012

When will this stop? I mean Turkey and Cyprus also participate every year! Why can't people just make music without looking on the political situation?

The only difference is that both countries are don't still at war as Azerbaijan and Armenia are.

So, what's the story here? If I understood correctly, it is possible that Armenia will give up on ESC this year because of it's beef with Azeris over the Nagorno-Karabakh? That would be such a shame. I usually like their entries. And all those weird things they put on a stage... Like a giant apricot, boxing glow. And that old looking dude. I think I'd miss that.

No, the correct history is that for Armenia can take part, they need ensure security of his delegation & fans because they know that awaits them when they stepped foot in Baku. Also i don't thing that the Imaci will put security fence to them, while not arrived an agreement on Karabakh, plus other Armenians apologize for the things hoirribles who made them.

The Russian organizers were given them orders to the EBU to veto the song, if was by the EBU would have allowed them compete with that song.

I really don't think any country can give orders to EBU to "veto" a song.
Indeed Russia could say against EBU that they find this song political, but after that EBU still have final decision.

But let's stay on-topic=)

I'm 100% sure EBU followed Russia's order.

You put too much trust in EBU, they're corrupt and money hungry.

Let's hope both Armenia and Azerbaijan will be sportive, and that Armenia bring us a better song then they did last year ))

Well let's say I just hope that the EBU didn't do it under pressure of Russia:)

We can all wish ;)

I'm just fearing a deja-vu this year with the Armenian entry... but let's see.

And I think you're being a little bit too sceptical and paranoid when it comes to the EBU. Georgia even admitted that the purpose of this song was to send a message and expected to be disqualified. So I'm not sure how this screams corruption if they pleaded guilty.

Again, let's not make this about politics once again, we have the political section for that.

Oh, I base my comment about EBU not just on this.

No this is a Eurovision discussion actually, but I'll add no more to that other than my suspicion.

Re: ARMENIA 2012

I heard previous songcontest contenders called all Armenian artists to boycot Eurovision this year...

Correct me if I'm wrong but I thought somebody just made that claim with no actual confirmation from those artists

Can be to provoke maybe. Well, let's wait 2 weeks and we will know if they will participate or not, and hopefully they will anounce a song! ;)
