Re: ARMENIA 2012

There will always be people complaining, gotta take it with a grain of salt.

I personally think it's a great thing that Armenia will be in Azerbaijan. Any little gesture can only help...I mean it can't really hurt the relationship, can it?

Oh c'mon, just because some artists makes these statements doesn't mean all agree.

There are similar statements made by some people, groups and parts of media in other countries aswell, should they also withdraw then?

aren't you tired of it? even after official agreement they keep on discussing it over and over, publishing new articles and so on. apparently they want to make it last as long as possible.

But "they" are not all Armenia, it's not the artist who will eventually enter, and it's not even an official statement right? It's just some group.

I mean there are groups in various countries that asks for boycotts, but you can't blame the whole country for that. Even in Sweden there have been some voices like that, which I don't agree with, but you want Sweden to withdraw aswell?

which relationship? we don't have any. of course it cannot be worse, as it is hardly possible. from the very beginning I wanted to see them in Baku since it is a musical contest and shouldn't be related to politics but such statements make me feel disappointed.

Sweden is a very close country for us after Eurovision 2011 (and 2010 too ). So I def don't want it. :D

I agree with your point, I was just a bit upset. I wish it were a simple musical contest.

Well, I understand why you're upset, but you know criticism will always come. There were similar groups asking for boycotts when Russia was a host aswell, when Serbia was, when Turkey was, when Spain was... yeah you get my point ;)

Think like this instead: They didn't withdraw, which means atleast someone wants to try to take steps atleast.

There will always be people trying to bring politics into a music contest and while we may not be able to stop it compelety, at the same token I don't think it should spoil the fun for us. If they are trying to be the voice of ignorance, let our voice of acceptance be louder.

It may sound a little dramatic but I believe it's true.

I dissagree with your point.. Why Armenians should come to Azerbaijan, if they did many worse thing in the past and didn't apologize them and now..??? If Armenia was already interesed in do any gesture, they must do now or before the start of ESC...

As I said, I don't feel the conflict between these two countries should play a role when it comes to a music contest. The show is suppose to unite countries (which was the original concept when it was implemented), not to divide them even further.

Armenian singers reject Baku-hosted Eurovision over soldier death

February 23, 2012 - 22:03 AMT
PanARMENIAN.Net - Armenian singers issued a statement expressing refusal to participate in Baku-hosted Eurovision 2012 song contest, following the February 23 death of an Armenian soldier in Azeri sniper attack.
“We refuse to perform in a country, notorious for mass killings and massacres of Armenians, a country where hatred for Armenian people is a part of governmental policy, a country banning the entrance of any person of Armenian nationality regardless of citizenship,” the statement said.
The performers reiterated their distrust for Azeri security guarantees, citing the murder of Gurgen Margaryan at the hand of Azeri officer at Budapest-hosted NATO seminar.
The Armenian singers stressed willingness to participate in Eurovision with other country selected as a host, as well as intention to take part in future contests.

Ah, I see the drama has started here again *yawn*

And I see Sabiondo being the one "starting the drama again".

I wonder if he'll add "anti-Armenian news" in the Azeri section to make Azerbaijan look bad aswell?... I doubt though, I feel his agenda is quite obvious.

So could we just stop this already? I'm pretty sure he could find similar stuff against Armenia by Azeri sources, but there's a reason he's not dragging down that thread with stuff like that.

I've seen the article he posted on different Eurovision message boards already so I don't think it's as calculated as you're making it out to be.

And really what else is there to discuss about Armenia other than artist speculation? This article, by their own media, implies they might even withdraw.
With relations as poor as they are between these countries, anything could happen regardless of their willingness to participate.

Fair enough, I just got this feeling because it wouldn't be the first time he'd be going on about "the bad guys Armenia".

If I'm wrong, I apologize to him of course.

I'll be heating some popcorn.

Seriously though, haven't we talked about this drama enough. We aren't getting anywhere talking about it ;)

I know it is off-topic discution, but this drama is which threatened Armenia in Eurovision participation 2012. Even if they select singer & song, sure they will continue in an uproar against Azerbaijan in the media at ESC 2012 news.

Well if it's a new development concerning their participation then isn't it relevant to discuss?

It's really no different than the endless speculation in the UK thread.
