Okay.... really? This is the same story every year

Actually I don't think this year is that bad at all. We usually have several really crappy songs at this point an so far there's only one song which listening means a torture to me (Cyprus). Then, FYR Macedonia and Denmark are songs that I'd have zero interest to hear out of ESC, but they don't really bother me and I don't think they're bad at all. Then, it is true that we don't have many outstanding songs so far, but we rarely have them so soon anyway.

So for me it's an average-good year so far. Only 1/10 that I really dislike which is good, but also only 2/10 that I really enjoy. Still positive though.

I'm yet to hear a song that I really like. So far I only like France and Denmark, but both are bordering with meh. :(

This Eurovision is shaping up to be the year of beige, which in my opinion is one of the worst crimes. No one is taking risks. The songs chosen so far are so dull, so unadventurous. It's just been disappointment after disappointment in regards to the national finals. Albania and Macedonia committed absolute sin in my opinion, opting for the name instead of song, and that's a theme I can sadly see continuing throughout the rest of this national final season. The internal selections so far have been poor. The artists chosen who have yet to reveal their songs, I hold very little hope for. Great songs have already been eliminated from the selections taking place now such as Moldova and Sweden, and the worst thing of all.... no Valentina Monetta.

I don't have a single song i'm wild for at the moment. I'm just very sadxcry1

Finland, Iceland, Ireland and Hungary can restore some of my lost faith. Opera Skaala, Sunday, Kat Mahon and Passed would bring me much Joy. In a good year i'd have 10+ songs I love as much as theirs. I don't really even have one yet.

This looks like it was made 20 years ago.

Wow... according to Wikipedia:

"Since March 2009, Thodi makes television appearances claiming that she discovered a special spiritual power inside her that enables her to help and heal people. She also claimed that she had seen divine visions." xfacepalm

GRE thank you my friend. You and Efi Thodi have brought me much joy this Tuesday afternoon. I'm looking in the direction of your country actually this year, to restore some of my faith. If only Thomai's song ends up half as good as her last one, i'm sure i'll be very happy.

Efi Thodi is wonderful. I've been playing her Eurovision song in your Plugdj room recently, and everyone has been going wild for it. It's such a hit.

This is gonna be the best year EVER!

Yeah, Australia is gona to win. If you got only one chance, you will make it count. I guess the country who comes second is about to host the contest next year.
So may vote for Australia, because out of sympathy, other will deny a rightful vote only because the thing this country shouldn't be allowed in the contest. But I think both sides will equalise each other. And so: Australia will win!

I just realized: I loved last year, but among the countries who've already chosen, my favorite last year would've been Tijana, and love her as I do, were she my favorite, it would've been a terribly weak Eurovision.

^ not so sure about that, I have 8-3 to 2014. Though it is many songs that will rearrange their songs and many songs to go, so I don't say it is a weak year, may get many potential ESC-winners in a row soon. :D

I seem to recall on this site that the thread about it suggested that 2014 was weaker than 2013. Last year was without a doubt the worst ESC for song quality in a decade. This year is looking good so far. A few duds (Macedonia, Albania and Cyprus) but there are some good songs and a few decent ones, with plenty of good ones in the pipeline. There hasn't been a song to floor me yet (Belarus comes close) but most ESC years there isn't a WOW song.

This ESC season is off to a good start.

It's perking up a bit now. If Aminata and Elina/Stig win their national finals next week then I have two firm favourites to cheer on for the season. Then I just have to hope Opera Skaala and Fahrenhaidt get sent as well.

Well, the level has increased quite much with Italy and Serbia :D

And NO WAY 2014 was worse than 2013. Absolutely.no.way.
