Agreed. Don't know who they should send for the men's free program, but they should keep Tessa and Scott for the free dance and send Gabby Daleman for the women's free

They are sending V/M, Gabby Daleman and Patrick Chan. I think for us to lose the gold medal OAR have to win the mens and the ladies and Canada has to get last, while in ice dance OAR has to finish within one place of Canada. It's a tough ask but it can happen... It'll be verrry exciting!!

I'm floored that we're actually going with Adam Rippon for the men's free. He has my favorite free program of the Americans (made me so emotion a couple times), but it's amazing that US Figure Skating actually went with such a risk.
If the states win tonight I think Rippon will become the first openly gay american winter athlete to win a medal. Which means history could be made tonight.

I don't think I'm worried about Canada's chances. Patrick will have probably worked out the butterflies from the short program, Tessa and Scott will wipe the floor with their "Moulin Rouge" dance, and if Gabby can lay down the same skate she had at nationals, I think they can do it

I've never seen Tessa and Scott make a mistake in their free.. even in practice. My only worry would be they changed out one of their lifts and they might have trouble with the new lift. Gabby's free is sooo good. She's skated it for two years and honestly I don't see her finishing anywhere near last. Patrick can be really inconsistent. We got soo lucky that everyone fell after him in the Men's SP. BUT he can put down a good run especially since a lot of the countries aren't putting their strongest skaters in. I don't want to jinx anything but I'm cautiously optimistic.

What a skate from Adam Rippon... I have tears in my eyes. I was transfixed from the first note of the music to the last. wow.

Ok not going to lie.. but it's instances like these where the quad is too powerful. Rippon's skate was far superior to the Russians.

I've watched Patrick for sooo many years and that skate reminded me of Patrick when he was in his prime. (excluding the falls)

Wasn't quite an obliteration until the 2nd last end. It was sooo intense and tight and terrifying up till that point.

I just saw Giant slalom was cancelled this night, so it was a wise decision to go to bed early... sadly I can't watch the biathlon races live today cause I have this thing called "real life". But I am going to record the races and watch them tonight. I just have to be careful to not get spoiled before so I better don't watch on my mobile today. Instead of that I will read a bit during the bus ride... Anyway, there are still two books in my collection I've planned to read but didn't start yet. So that's an excellent occasion.

Day 3 of the Olympics happening right now, and I've returned from a weekend of pretty hardcore raving. Trying to adjust to Korean time, but failed a bit today (mainly because the alpine skiing got postponed, so I had no reason to stay awake at 1 am, and made the mistake of going back to bed). Oh well.

We also have an Olympic quiz going at work, so I think I'll try to make some updates both from a Norwegian point of view, but also how I'm doing there. Spoiler alert: Not great so far.

Day 1:
Biathlon (women's sprint): Surprising silver for Marte Olsbu. I thought Eckhoff would have been the one with the biggest chances there, but she wasn't even close.
This was also on the quiz at work. Would Norway get a medal? I guessed no, and was wrong.

Cross-country skiing (women's skiathlon): Not so surprising medal for Norway here, Marit Bjørgen got a silver.
Also on the quiz, who would win the skiathlon? I guessed Charlotte Kalla, and was right. :D My first point!

Short track (men's 1500 m): No Norwegians taking part, and I didn't get to see it either. Had access to the Latvian Olympic broadcaster on TV, but was busy with music or sleeping.

Ski jumping (men's normal hill): 2 medals for Norway here, Johann Forfang got the silver and Robert Johansson got the bronze. Could have been 0 medals tho, Stoch and Hula came very close.
On the quiz, would Norway get the silver? I actually thought one of the Norwegians would win, and guessed no. Bad move.

Speed skating (women's 3000 m): One Norwegian taking part, but 7 seconds behind, and not even close. Massive Dutch dominance.

Day 1: 3 silver, 1 bronze. Not too bad, but Norwegians were waiting for the first gold.

Day 2:
Biathlon (men's sprint): No medals for Norway. Before the Olympics, Erlend Bjøntegaard got the last place on the team instead of Bjørndalen, which caused some discussion. He ended up being the best Norwegian on the sprint, so that discussion should be ended now. He deserved his spot. :)
On the quiz, would Norway win gold? For me, this was between Fourcade and J.T. Bø, and I thought Johannes would snatch it, and guessed yes. Would still have counted if Bjøntegaard had won, but no gold, and no point for me. Everyone who thought Fourcade would win would have gotten a point here, so I'm falling behind already.

Cross-country skiing (men's skiathlon): Triple Norwegian, and I couldn't care less. Ask me in a week who Simen Hegstad Krüger is, and I'll probably respond with "who?"...
On the quiz, who wins? I guessed Klæbo, and he wasn't really close. I doubt anyone would have guessed Krüger tho, but there are 74 people taking part in this quiz, so you never know...

Freestyle (women's moguls): It's been a while since Norway was big in this sport, Kari Traa got the silver in 2006, and nobody has managed to pick it up after that. Hedvig Wessel did qualify to the first round of the finals, but that was it this year.

Luge (men's singles): I follow bob and skeleton (at least a bit), but not luge, and know little about this sport. What I do know, is that the Germans are generally favorites, but that apparently didn't go too well... Looks like Loch had a very bad 4th run.

Snowboard (men's slopestyle): Gotta admit, I had hopes here. Kleveland won his qualification heat, and we had 3 other Norwegians in the final as well (altho, Mons Røisland injured himself in training before the final, and didn't take part). But no medals, Kleveland best on 4th.

Speed skating (men's 5000 m): Nobody could do anything about Kramer, but Sverre Lunde Pedersen got a bronze for Norway. VERY close to a silver tho, 0.002 seconds behind Ted-Jan Bloemen. First Norwegian medal in the Olympics on this distance since 1994!

Day 2: 1 gold, 1 silver, 2 bronze.

WOOOO I LOVE BIATHLON!!

I never in a million years thought that we would get a medal there this year, but the young Sebastian Samuelsson shocked everyone and grabbed the silver medal in Biathlons Pursuit!! Fantastic to see him pass the german towards the end and he wanted more than a bronze medal, amazing! :D
