Moldova will surely not withdraw after coming 3rd last year, will they?
We already have 41 countries in the list,
but I think also will be added soon.
I still don't exclude a participation of and .
There's a good chance we will either equal the 43 record in 2018 (hopefully Moldova and Macedonia don't withdraw), or get 44 if Kazakhstan debuts, which judging from EBU's announcement is quite a possibility!
I think we will see both Moldova and Macedonia in, however I highly doubt EBU will allow Kazakhstan, what "announcement" do you refer to?
It would be cool if there would be a record though
The EBU didn't deny nor confirm Kazkhstan's participation in an annoucement last month. They said they are reviewing the rules about associate members taking part and they might open an exception for Kazakhstan's Khabar Agency like they did to Australia's SBS, due to the interest shown by the broadcaster and the number of years they have broadcasted the contest.
So far they've been vague at best, the rest have been mostly fans and fanpage/communities speculations tbh, reading things into it that was never mentioned by the EBU.
If anything I'm afraid EBU is thinking more how to coup in USA (under similar pretexts as with Australia, although this time it will be laughably obvious).

In a show broadcasted today on RTP1, Carla Bugalho (our HOD of this year and next year's executive producer of ESC) confirmed that 43 countries will participate next year.
Plus, the postcards will be filmed in various regions of Portugal involving the delegations.
Was it a definitive answer or a for now answer (like so far 43 countries have confirmed) ?
She said it as a definitive answer
But who knows we might have one surprise (like Australia in 2015)
