I've just listened to the new version in full, though it was in potato sound quality. I declare this re..... whatever it is they've done to the song a small success. The song before was so bland and nondescript. I seriously had it down as one of the very worst songs of the year. Almost offensively beige. It does in parts sound like a child has had at it with FruityLoops now, but you know what? That's added some much needed flavour and personality that was sorely missing before. And the song is growing on me too. I can just imagine "Storm" playing during some wonderful segment on the Lorraine Kelly show, or perhaps the theme to the latest Weight Watchers commercial. It's very daytime tv. Loose Women at 12:30, you know? That kind of feel. It's becoming harmless to me now which is a good thing as I don't want to hate the song. I like SuRie. I always believed she deserved a better song than this. She wasn't the problem. I'm glad these changes happened. Oh and I love that single artwork. Looks so pretty with those pastel colours.
I'm hoping for a Lucie situation again though with the staging, as I still think the song is destined for the bottom. It's not Levina levels of bad anymore but that flop is still waiting for us, with good staging perhaps being our only hope to save some face. I'll upgrade my 2 points to 5. I still think we made a terrible mistake but happy to say I don't hate the song anymore. It's become too campy for me to hold a grudge now. I didn't think i'd do a turn around on this in the slightest bit, so this is a positive development.
