There was a reason this song was bottom of the odds before the live performances - it's just too inoffensive to make any rift on the scoreboard across European/Aus fans.

The problem with the UK is that viewers tend to vote for the best performance on the night, whereas, other European countries tend to take a risk and vote for the best song - that's why the UK has a poor track record lately.

Best song and most talented singer won and im very pleased.

Very interesting situation, you are not satisfied with San Remo Festival at all, but yes with the UK choice for ESC.. :D

I enjoyed watching the NF (Mans and Melxheartxheart) but seriously, scrap it next year. It's not working. We can never be trusted.... not that I trust
Time to vacate this topic and pretend i'm actually from Albania San Marino as usual, until they mess up too and then i'll tell people i'm actually from Uranus.

Well with Guy Freeman gone next year, what if we can organise a great nf with major record labels taking part with a winnable song instead the promotion of the BBC thing and X Factor rejects

Vocals aren't everything jedward did well for Ireland and they have BAD VOCALS

But when Jedward did well, they had a good song. You can potentially do well with a weak song and strong vocals; you can do well with a strong song and weak vocals; you can't do well with a weak song and weak vocals.

I can't believe we picked Storm. I just can't see any redeeming qualities. See you in last place I guess. :(

Guy Freeman leaving will change NOTHING. If you watched any of the Q&As last year you would see our HoD as Helen Riddell (something like that, she was a blonde woman), Guy and her Co-controlled the job, and considering he wasn't much in the Q&As last year I expect she will take on the job alone. Also I'm sure Hugh Goldsmith does all the heavy lifting for our songs and NF. We need our France moment where someone actually interested and a fan of the contest as a serious contest takes over control, either that or the BBC bins it off and let ITV have it.

Sean bitch slap the BBC for all of us in Lisbon if you see them roaming about. They need one to get their act together.

To all the haters:
I don't think we selected SuRie thinking it was going to win Eurovision and that it's some amazing piece of pop music.
People simply voted for the best performance and best package with what they were given. Why do you think she got the largest cheer of the night?
Legends wasn't up to par live. Those of you bitter ones can go on hating about how UK has shot themselves in the foot, but try rewatching the performances.
Legends may well have done better than Storm indeed (or maybe not, who knows atm), but how can you expect people to vote for it when it clearly wasn't the best on the night? Do you honestly think it stood out to the average viewer as the best?
Yes, Asanda may have had time to improve her vocals (though i'm not sure she'd deliver a top 10 performance or anything- whether it's different or not), but SuRie also has time to improve the song! Just my two cents.

They get a free pass for 2017 and I can consider this just a 'blip' but I'll have strong words to make sure this never happens again ;)

If that's the case i'll be open to an NF again then. At the moment i've just found our NFs to be incredibly disappointing, both the quality of the songs, and our choices. I never thought i'd say that I actually preferred it when we were picking internally. At least we got Blue that way. And as AshleyWright pointed out, I think we deserve more transparency. I absolutely hate not knowing what exactly happened tonight. We deserve to know the breakdown of points and how our entry came to be selected.
