What do you mean by performance? That hand waving thing that made me think of a member of a cheap airlines cabin crew???

Did you just mention an airline cabin crew in the UK thread?

Oh god why

The best performance probably won but certainly not the best song. A pity that Asanda couldn't deliver. Fully expect another bottom 5 finish for us unless a revamp can salvage what we have.

Unless they revamp the way Ira Losco did in 2016 then I doubt it

Before the show I thought Crazy would be the safest choice, but after watching the live performances I am not surprised about the winner, SuRie was the best on stage with an avarage song that could still grow up (it needs a serious revamp) I never saw Asanda as a winner, the song was a mess, and her performance proved she was not ready for a big stage yet. I read some criticism about how cliche Storm is as if Legends were the mother of creativity. Please, chill out.

I think UK made the best choice tonight, among middle of the road songs this one has potential for a one-night competition. We'll see.

Thank you for your sanity.

When it comes to the studio version I'm not impressed and I feel like it needs more oomph however that live performance was really strong, she seemed authentic and has a lot of personnality. The staging was good and will probably even be better in Lisbon so I'm not worried about the UK results in May, she won't finnish in the bottom 5.

The best about this NF for me was the huge sea of :eu: flags. I wouldn't be surprised if tabloids spit their dummies out and claim the BBC have a pro-eu agenda! xnaughty

Ok, can you PLEASE explain to me what was so great about this performance? And don't just say it was the best! I just saw a woman standing there, making exercises for her upper arm muscles, looking expressionless into the camera and keeping her position as if she feared she would break her ankles when doing the slightest movement.

Also, can I just highlight how ANNOYING it is the BBC yet again didn't reveal the voting break down. SERIOUSLY WHAT GIVES? Just tell us, it brings up so many suspicious questions and makes the results so anti-climatic. Instead of wasting all of our time with playing the entirety of Waterloo (lol what a cop out of an interval) you should have done a voting sequence to help build some excitement and show us really how everyone voted.

Oh, UK. I suppose I can't complain too much, given the live performances, but other songs had more potential than this, and as other people have said this currently feels very "Perfect Life".

I will say that I quite like the verses – the piano bits there remind me of a few old Savage Garden songs I like, which I guess is something – but the chorus is a dated blob of nothing that goes in one ear and out the other, and she struggles to hit the high notes there anyway.

This could improve with a revamp, if revamp is defined as "replace the chorus with something entirely different", but for now I'll give this three points and put it at the bottom of the seven songs chosen so far.

The best about this NF for me was the huge sea of :eu: flags. I wouldn't be surprised if tabloids spit their dummies out and claim the BBC have a pro-eu agenda! xnaughty

I've already seen some conservatives frothing about it on Twitter, and I only woke up half an hour ago

Her performance in that she was selling a stronger package than Asanda. She came across as very warm, likeable and sincere in her delivery. I'm not endorsing it because I still think Legends would've been a better choice, but I can see why the public voted the way they did.

Well all I can say is that thank goodness my emotional investment levels in this NF were non existent. I enjoyed Jaz's performance but I wasn't in love with the song. Asanda's type of music isn't my thing but I wanted us to send "Legends" as it was bold and felt like our chance to make a statement at Eurovision. I think we've missed out on something here and I feel more sad for the fans that were really into it, not just from the UK but all over Europe. Sorry to those people we disappointed tonight. I would have been so curious to see the results of an Asanda experiment. Now we'll never know.

Positives - SuRie is a darling and she has a nice voice. I like her.

Negatives - Everything else. The song is dull, cliche and screams Eurovision flop. It's Denmark done on a shoestring budget. A B-Side to "Only Teardrops". It's a shame that even when we're given power, we still make these decisions, going down the road of sending songs that sound like they're especially made for Eurovision, with absolutely zilch potential to breathe outside of the contest (hell, they can't even breathe at the contest), and considering our reputation in the music industry, it's just very sad. More than anything I think she won because she's lovely. She was warm and humorous during het VT and interview after the song. A shame the song doesn't live up to that personality. I think this is bottom 3 at Eurovision, unless something shocking happens. The three listens i've had of "Storm" I think are enough to last me until May. It's just too banal.

I enjoyed watching the NF (Mans and Melxheartxheart) but seriously, scrap it next year. It's not working. We can never be trusted.... not that I trust the BBC either though so hmmmm.

2 points (I would have given Asanda and Jaz 6 and 7).

Time to vacate this topic and pretend i'm actually from Albania San Marino as usual, until they mess up too and then i'll tell people i'm actually from Uranus.
