The NF could be set up like Takeshi's Castle. If the singers don't beat Takeshi at the end of the show, no one wins and our participation at Eurovision that year is cancelled.

So.... we'd permanently withdraw?

I actually don't understand what happened. Legends has SUCH potential, and I think it's so obvious even if she performed it A TAD shaky tonight. I think I'm more devastated now than I was when Opera Skaala didn't win three years ago in Finland :( I DEMAND the split results.

Well, you know, usually people vote for what they see and Asanda wasn't the best vocally tonight, so how could you expect people voting for a shaky singer?
I agree she could imporve, but that would have been a good statement if it were an internal selection, but in a NF viewers vote based on the actual performance not for what could be in three months.

If people voted for the best performance then Jaz would have won...xsnooty

and btw, not revealing the results makes it look like internal selection by the BBC

Well, Wikipedia tells me that there have been 8 Takeshi Castle winners. There has been 133 episodes, so let me try and do the maths here....... that leaves us with a 6.015037593985% chance of being at Eurovision each year, and also guarantees our entry will be all kinds of hot because our artist would have slayed Takeshi.

This. I know it's still somewhat subjective of course, but he gave by very far the best vocal of the night.

Wow, well in that case I think we should go ahead with this format. At least we will be able to throw potatoes etc at the meh singers. I'd also like to add a specials 'Kays good cooking' part where each singer must match her level of cooking, and then serve a full course meal to her and Lee.

What is best or worst is subjective, while Asanda was shaky, SuRie was at least correct vocally, perhaps some people might think Jazz was the best singing, but that isn't enough... who got the best song that's a matter of taste. My point is that how can be hard to understand that Asanda didn't win when she obviously failed live, and that is a fact not subjective.

Oh, I see, sorry. The british then, I guess, or is it the Uk people?

British. Residents of the UK. ;)

Jaz had an awful song - great vocalist, but the song just didn't sell his vocals to the fullest for me. And I went into this final thinking Asanda would smash it, but I wasn't too proud to admit that her live performance didn't work. I just feel that SuRie's track sounds like a Scandi-penned B-side that will invariably risk becoming lost in the sea of other similarly penned Scandi-tracks unless some quirky staging or performance quirk can be brought in that really makes it pop on the Eurovision stage. The song is okay, so it's all about the performance for me as to how it ends up ;)

Tonight is one of the nights where many Eurovision fans show their true colours. Bitter, nasty comments all round. Pathetic behaviour from some people. It's like a 6 month old baby spitting out their dummy.

Obviously SuRie won over people or she wouldn't have won. The hall went from pro-Asanda to pro-SuRie after her performance. Asanda was vocally AWFUL. If you send that to Eurovision, it totally bombs. There was no good choice tonight. Every song was right-side of the scoreboard, but at least now the UK have a strong performer who can sell a song.

Don't like the song? Fine. Cool. But some of the thing being said both on here and especially on twitter absolutely are taking the piss. Grow up.

12 points for performance. 6 points for the song. So I'll give it 8 and say the UK have made the best of a bad selection.

AshleyWright and if the pretzels aren't up to Lee and Kay's high standards, and delivered by bucket to them on time, the singer is then imprisoned for several years within the Crystal Maze Aztec zone.

Probably will end up last in the final. Can’t believe that’s the best the UK can send... 4 points

Calm down. :? Idk about on twitter but i don't think anyone here has been particularly bitter or spat their dummies out. :? Some are clearly upset over the result but that happens each time. I personally liked Asandas song the best, but after watching her performance i knew she wouldn't win and then after watching SuRie I knew she'd win it as she provided the most 'impressive' performance of the 6, although far from perfect. What upset me is the way the BBC hide the results, that's what upsets me the most and I think you'd happily agree with most of us that BBC couldn't organise a piss up in a brewery if Eurovision is involved. The song needs a bloody good revamp to drag it from the beige pits of Denmark but after Lucie last year It might well be possible.

Well personally I think my true colours are always on display. I said when the songs were revealed that this felt very much like a wrong choice to take, and the performance changed nothing. I don't understand your reaction here, as you're often very harsh with your comments on songs chosen. Most of us can be. We're fans and we come here to share our opinions, and a lot of the time we get disappointed. I think SuRie seems an absolutely lovely lady with a nice voice (almost got an Annie Lennox vibe going on) but that song is taking me nowhere so I think we made the wrong choice, and the lack of transparency from the BBC is annoying. I'm glad you like the song. I don't.

Hi xwave

Weren't the English the ones responsible for this choice? I know other countries also make poor decisions and the selection so far is not very exciting (Malta is terrible) but.... I'm thinking this is the worst of a bad bunch xfacepalm

Hahah but not only English, it is United Kingdom, you can vote from Scotland, Wales, England, and I suppose Northern Ireland.. :D

Well, it may not be subjective but to be fair, it's also not a fact. We don't know if SuRie won the televote, the incompetent BBC refuses to reveal the full results. It's easily possible that surie finished third with the televoters...maybe not but we don't know of sure so nothing is fact until the BBC grows some balls and gets their head into the game.
