Wow, a fair article on the ESC from a British newspaper??!!!

Five Eurovision myths debunked | Television & radio | guardian.co.uk

Combined with Bonnie Tyler's truly amazing humility, recognising that winning will be hard and that she will have to give it her best, I'm beginning to have faith in the UK once again. Does 2013 finally mark the year when the UK will get past its 2003 nul points trauma and victim mentality and decides it wants to participate in the Contest again? And who knows, London 2015!!! I sure wish for it, because all Britain needs to win is to actually care just a little.

In the meantime, go Bonnie!!! (climbing in my personal ranking, now at n°11).

With this song UK should prepare themselves for the bottom tbh... the juries are ones that could save them a bit.

So the "victim mentality" will come back again... blaming everyone else except for BBC's lousy judgment...

Did you hear the cheers for Bonnie tonight? So proud! :D

Also we've eliminated the most powerful of the voting blocs tonight, all positives!

The countries that were eliminated have all been eliminated at the semi-finals before and have a grand total of 1 victory between them. Calling them the most powerful bloc is a bit of a stretch. Especially as Armenia is now the only ex-USSR country I can see not qualifying.

Seeing tonight's results, I think Bonnie will actually get a decent placing. 2013 smells very Western with a strong Nordic presence already, Belgium and Netherlands, Ireland and no Balkans.

The song is generic, boring and dated... unfortunately ESC is going in a crap direction, but I don't see this doing much though...

But yeah, it's in the taste of juries so they might save it a bit...

They're the most powerful bloc because they vote for each other without fail, and with the maximum points. All these sets of points now have to go somewhere else, with Bonnie's popularity in Europe, and with this style of ballad, I can easily see us tapping into these nation's points.

If they are so powerful, how come none of those countries made it to the final when almost all of them were in the same semi?

Some mid-age ladies will vote for Bonnie, and the juries... the rest have moved on ;)

Actually the most powerful bloc is by far the ex-USSR bloc as I was saying in the other thread. Balkan bloc has one victory overall, ex-USSR five in the last twelve years: 2001, 2002, 2004, 2008, 2011.

Am I the only one that literally wants to throw something through the tv when I hear Scott Mills commentating? He literally is the most biased man ever... Taking the p out of Anouk's voice in the voting recap. He questions Loreen when she reveals her favourite is the Netherlands then gets owned by her answer and owned by the two other guests he was interviewing who also revealed their favourites to be Anouk and gave good reasons as to why she was their favourites. If it's not some dance, pop he can play on his radio show or dj with (whatever on earth it is he does) then he mocks it and gets puzzled when guests he is interviewing or the general public like it. He's worse than wogan.

Sorry, just had to ventxgaah

Somebody can be worse than post-2003 Terry Wogan?

I believe so. His interviews are just TERRIBLE. He has guests, asks a question, they give him back an answer that isn't to his liking. He looks at the guest like they are a weirdo and says something along the lines of "You actually like that? But everyone texting into us hates it blah blah blah". Person that he's interviewing then feels awkward. Loreen looked miffed by him. He's done this since he's been doing the contest. It was like he had some massive vendetta against Rona last year as well which of course made me very angry watching the show. He's managed to irk me each year. Tonight he even decided to sing at the end of Lithuania's performance! Plus made various unfunny jokes.. ah I just can't bare him. He's so predictable and biased. No sarcasm like wogan. He just basically says "this is rubbish".

Now i'm praying for Macedonia failing to qualify and Armenia qualifying, that will be epic, no ex-Yugo and all ex-USSR countries in the Final
I wanna see blakan votes flying Greece direction, amen!
There's no way Balkans are heavily voting for Bonnie, that's nonsense.

With Spain and France in the 1st half, I'm really getting my hopes up that we can get a 2nd half position! All of the female ballads (except Ukraine, if you count that) in semi 1 ended up in the 1st half too, so a 2nd half performance would REALLY help Bonnie.
