I actually wouldn't know who to vote for. I can't say that there is any UK entry that I absolutely love. I'd vote for Bonnie if she were an option. Maybe if I went and had a listen to some of the very early entries. Of the ones in my lifetime "Don't Play That Song Again" gives me the biggest feelings of nostalgia. It won the first British selection that I can remember. I actually liked Scooch and ummmmm *cough cough* I own the cd single ahem. So MyHeartIsYours you are not alone:p They were a fun novelty.

Europeans might not have liked it. Britons did. That's a fact, and there's no point in denying. I hardly expect Scooch to win the poll. However, they will receive many more votes than you're expecting. Flying The Flag is in the eyes of most British people the 'perfect' Eurovision entry.

No, It isn't a fact. A chart position isn't proof of British people thinking It's a good Eurovision song. Although I can believe some thought it was the perfect Eurovision entry. That also shows just how delusional the British public are when it comes to what a Eurovision song is about. The only thing that matters about a Eurovision song is whether Europe likes it. Europe hated it and to this day the song is considered an embarrassment not just to British Eurovision entries, but to the competition itself.

As for how many votes it will get in this poll, I'm operating with more hope than expectation. If Flying The Flag does well it just proves how far off generic British Eurovision viewer is from what makes a good ESC song imho. Brown-nosing Eurotrash does not a good Eurovision entry make.

You generally have good music taste and are a scholar and a gentleman, so I will forgive you this sin :p

Thank you kindly sir. It was many, many moons ago when I committed the terrible sin of purchasing Scooch "Flying The Flag" cd as well as their debut album. I was young and foolish. Both are now gathering dust in the loft. I've always had quite a sweet tooth for novelty however. To this day I enjoy the likes of Cezar, Verka and various failures from national finals. The hint of tragedy is just too alluring for me to resist.

... Why can't we ever send anyone who can actually sing live? :/

Dont worry - Bonnie will do well! She knows how to sing live.
And she was never known for having a cristal clear Mariah Carey-like voice...lol... seems like her voice hasnt changed much since when she was one of my definite favourites in the 80s!!
This performance was good enough when you concider it was in a radio studio without all the usual backup.

What? It's not a bad performance bearing in mind she doesn't have the right earpiece and equipment they'll have in Malmo, it's an acoustic version not the real version and it's in a tiny room I think she did great

Her voice is shot. She has the rasp quality but these days it sounds like she has 30 ciggies a day. It's awkward rather than bad.

Isn't Sandie Shaw the one who absolutely hated her song and refuses to sing it even today? And if I'm correct "Puppet on a String" ended up winning the whole thing and became the UK's first win ever!

So if she hates "Believe in Me" that's good not bad. And it must be a good omen for Malmo! I guess Sandie doesn't know the ways of Eurovision very well.

Go Bonnie Go!!!!:D

Yup she dislikes Puppet on a String untill Jools Holland rearranged it for her. A lot of UK acts hate their songs yet in the past they gave them big hits and were often better suited to do well in the contest. Believe in Me doesn't fit in either category.

On the 15th May BBC Three are showing 'How to Win Eurovision' presented by Russell Kane and Greg James they investigate the perceived attributes required to become a Eurovision Song Contest winner, including a strong gimmick, a dubious choice of costume and questionable singing talent. The presenters also celebrate past successes at the annual event, featuring interviews with Graham Norton, Bucks Fizz, Scott Mills and Daz Sampson

Oh dear. I hope this won't be living in the past (I expect it will) and what expertise do the BBC have currently in winning Eurovision?????

I think this has been said before on the Friday on Radio 2 Ken Bruce will have a Eurovision special reliving the best UK entries and quizes. On the Saturday Sara Cox will host an aftershow Radio 2 program on Eurovision 2013.

The BBC seem to be taking an interest but going about it the wrong way in areas.

At least BBC are making an effort this year, a lot more posts on the BBC Eurovision page, and actual promotional tour and all of these shows on TV.

The tour won't be down to the BBC that's just having a proactive manager. It really depends if the TV program is tired cliches or looking at the reality of the contest today. They seem to want to do better with things yet their actual entries suggest otherwise.
