I don't love it, i don't hate it :). I would rate it 5/10, maybe a 6/10. I think it all depends from now how big it will be and how it will match this sketch as the stage in Baku did not really look like the one we saw in the sketches. I like those things in the roof, i hope they don't make it small as that would look embarassing.

.. im woundering how Valentina will look on this stage, as the same for Krista Siegfrid. Will they make it possible for Robin Stjerneberg to have his '' fire-rain '' as Azerbajdzjan and United Kingdom had on stage? Lots of questions about the stage. Will it make the arena look small or bigger? Will the stage be big or small? How will they make the greenroom?

I fear this is another Helsinki 2007 as i wanted it to be a new Oslo or Dusseldorf

I don't understand, there is people on this forum who always moan! They moaned on the voting rule changes, running order changes and now you've moaned here!

I find this completely normal. You can't ask from everyone to be pleased with everything! There will be a few members who won't like the voting rules, the stage, the running order rules.

If it all turns out well, then I'm sure most of them will accept they were wrong. At least I'll do it. I've done it before. But right know we judge what we see. :)

How do you know production is going to look cheap on the 3 nights, have you seen into the future?! It's not SVT's fault that the budget is lower, it's the EBU after the last few hosts have spent way too much money on the contest!

Maybe the reason they complained about the 3 things you mentioned is BECAUSE THERE IS SOMETHING TO COMPLAIN ABOUT. The build-up to this year's contest has been bad news after bad news.

As for the budget, SVT could have had a strong amount for this. It could have been a massive contest, but they chose to (as far as I can tell atm) turn it into a contest straight out of the 90's. All that is left is to host it in a bingo hall in Dublin.

To be honest i don't care if people complain about the stage, the choice of arena, running order etc. as i know SVT will put up with an amazing show, just as they do with Melodifestivalen

What is there too be happy about really? All the changes made so far has been bad for the contest xshrug

Oh, it's definitely SVT's fault because it's their CHOICE and their choice only!, EBU has a budget set for the contest, but if the broadcaster want to spend more it's up to them to do so. Also, for your info EBU has risen the fees for the broadcasters, so you should instead question yourself where that extra income goes if not for the budget for ESC? xshrug

EBU haven't spent "way too much money" on the contest before, like I said EBU has a budget for this but the broadcasters are free to spend more if they like... so if SVT want to be cheap it's THEIR choice!

Your one of the people I was referring to in that post. Just get into the spirit of Eurovision! And also, on the SVT website it says "SVT has also claimed that the European Broadcasting Union (EBU) wanted the 2013 Contest to be "smaller" due to the escalating costs of previous contests."

I don't care, people have their right to express what they want (including dissatisfaction).

Oh, SVT can "claim" whatever they want... broadcasters can still add more to the contest if they want to, SVT just choose not to.

I for one think the stage is a pleasant surprise, good use of colours so I am happy.

I am sure each song will be brought to life on the night.

The thing with the budget.. i really like those big arenas, big stages etc. but i don't think its good for the competition as not all of the countrys participating and trying to win don't have that kind of money

But no country/broadcaster is forced to spend over budget you know? EBU has a budget for ESC and the broadcaster's tend to have some on their own... how much it's up to them.

Now they try to make it look like "oh we do it cheaper so that all can afford"... but thing is that none were forced to do it expensive in the first place... but should they not be allowed to if they want to though? I mean just because SVT want to be cheap, should that be the standard now for the whole contest if other broadcasters would be willing to spend more in the future? I think it's really up to the country/broadcaster to decide for themselves... no one is forcing anyone to go over-budget for this.

I know right? :(
Sweden is in full capacity to make a great show and that is not even a question mark. I believe or well at least I want to believe that the final production will be fine despite to all those unpleasant "suprises" we got so far. However let's remember that a fair trial can be done only after the night on 18th of May ;)

I hope you're right... I'm not overly optimistic so far :(

I also had some concerns last year but finally it turned out well. Stay positive! I am sure it will be fine in the end xcheer1

But everyone knew that Azerbaijan would spend on this, while SVT said from the start they want it small and cheap :(

I'm probably the only one who likes the fact that they're going small and intimate. The past few years have been way too big for my liking. I've never been a fan of the vast, open (and thus empty-looking) stages and the gigantic arenas, so this fits right up my alley.

I will say one thing that really gets me excited about this stage is the kind of wings just stretching out across the arena from the stage. They remind me of the little lights they had all around the sides of the 2003, 2006, 2007, and the massive stretch of lights in 2010. They added a great atmosphere to the place, so I'm really looking forward to them!

It'll also be the end of big shows though, which is a pity because ESC will lose alot of its entertainment value. The ballad lovers will love the change, but I think it's killing the diversity once and for all.

Also, it's been proven that intimacy works aswell on big stages, because it all depends on the camera work and choreography basically. Now all are forced to have these "intimate" shows which I don't approve of at all... you'll notice in some years if this continues that we'll be back to the 90's with more or less only ballads. I'm not against intimate shows, but I'm against the idea that all entries have to fit into one type of formula (which eventually will result in more or less same-y entries in the future)... I want diversity... big and small, bombastic and intimate... but how will this be possible with the new approach? shrug
