:ru: get a good draw but not excellent, same for :am: (still a mystery btw as well as :ua: ) , :au: and :fr: got the best draw in the first semi, :be: expected but they didn't put very strong songs right after it so they wanted them to be first but at the same not destroying them. I quite agree on the destroyed entries (like czech republic or malta)

I think the biggest winner is :au: followed by :fr: and :at:, I think :at: did a very good job in the semi, being right after :ge: and with :uk: after, she will shine like crazy.
Anyway 2nd half was crowded af, it's like a shooting gallery, each entry will try to kill each other #bloodbath . So... I do think that :au: will win, 1st half, good spot and not as crowded as 2nd half

Poor Czechia.

They clearly favor Australia and France.

I think Armenia won semi 1.

They don't want Russia to win. They treated it favorably in the semi, so they can give it a worse draw now.

Ukraine didn't get the best draw either, so did Australia win semi 2?

What's so bad about their draw??? It makes no difference for :ru: to perform as 18th or 23rd for example? Same for :ua:... Unfortunately they will both stand out anyway...

Com on why are you all now overreacting with :au:? It doesn't stand out at all!! Sitting on a box and doin' some high notes while having 100% dullness as a song is not enough for winning...

I would argue that it is more than "sitting on and a box and doin' some high notes"... but okay :)

As you may guess from my avatar, I have really nothing against Australia, but SF2 kind of opened my eyes and now I really don´t like the idea of Dami Im as a possible winner. The song is nice and she is a very competent vocalist, there is no doubt about it. But... the performance was so unpleasantly narcissistic.... ew. She was like:

Basen on the running order, Russia looks like they have a chance to win.

I still think Armenia is going to win (and it will be deserved. great song and above all a great performance) And Belgium is going to be top 5 at least. She is super bubbly and cute. Russia IMO is going to flop. And by flop I mean not getting a top 3.

I'm betting the top 3 will be something like:

:am: Armenia
:be: Belgium
:au: Australia or :hu: Hungary

We have these host-made running orders for the fourth time now, and I really do not like them. It always leaves you with an uneasy feeling of possible manipulation. A real random draw would make the contest look more fair.

Does anyone remember the slot system we once discussed? Where the songs are divided into two or three groups by speed, energy etc and then distributed to a predefined order of alternating slots via random draw? That would avoid clusters of same-type songs just as well and everybody would still have an equal chance for a good position. I definitely would prefer something like this.

I wonder why they thought it would be a good idea to put :nl: after :cz: :?

it's not just about the positions themselves though it's about the countries around you

running order is not the be all end all and a true winner can win from any position, but they have some effect no matter how small and it feels like producers want to capitalize on it

This! (Especially the part in bold)

Yeah, trying to be objective and not too biased because it's my country, but a song which is called 'Slow Down', meant as a statement for the fast world we're living in, after a ballad and preceding the firework and bombastic performance of Azerbaijan seems completely illogical to me. :? :az: and :nl: switching slots would have been better actually, for all the contestants involved - Czech Republic, Azerbaijan, Hungary and the Netherlands.

Actually I figured out why Armenia is last... I mean it's just a guess BUT it could have a link to the flag issue.. like a before-warning : we can't get you out now but we still have the draw in our hands and except Il Volo, performing last is not a gift.

I was talking to my friend and I said Belgium would probably go first, Czech Republic second, with Armenia potentially ending the show, if not Spain.
Looks like I was right, but I felt like putting Belgium first was too obvious, but I don't know who else I would've put first.
Israel could've gone out second as well, I feel a bit sad for Czech Republic going out second (the curse of going out second, anyone?) as this is their first finals. I would've laughed if they put Azerbaijan second though.

I don't understand why you'd put Sweden and Germany right after eachother, followed by France and then Poland and Australia? Sweden and Germany are quite low-tempo songs, then theres Poland and Australia, two songs with two fierce vocalists.
Also, Spain after Russia? Please..

The running order could've been improved. Sorry Christer, its a no from me.

EDIT: And Netherlands that early in the running order doesn't really help their chances.

Russia is always mentioned because of the staging and not because of the song. By the time the show is over, the audience will have seen Ukraine, Georgia and Armenia after Russia, so I'm wondering if they will still remember the Russian staging that fondly by that time. Georgia isn't for everyone but the staging just works for this song and Ukraine and Armenia have a staging that perfectly goes along with the song. I think Austria will also appeal to many viewers.

If Russia had been given a later draw, the impact of the 3D mapping wouldn't wane as fast as it might now. I think Russia just looks distasteful and random in comparison to other stagings. They just threw all 3D mapping effects they could think of into three minutes. Songs that have a better overall concept should shine in comparison. Belarus had a similar approach as Russia and it didn't even qualify. They also threw all kinds of random effects into the staging and thought that would be all it takes. Of course, people can argue now that Russia is better at this but I don't see why people should be crazy for Russia while Iceland and Belarus didn't even qualify despite of their stagings. So I think the earlier draw will not help Russia because people will see more tasteful stagings and songs after it. There are also favorites like France and Australia before it, so I don't see why Russia would stand out in the spot it got.

I know people say that by the end of the show the audience will be tired and that's a disadvantage but if you have a powerful performance, I think coming near the end or at the very end can help. Italy was very powerful last year at the end and won the televote. So I think Armenia will profit and Ukraine could have profited from a later draw too. If it touches people emotionally, it would have more of an impact at the end, I think.
