That's not a good sign of quality. The songs that a really great should catch the attention already with the first listenings.. BTW, sweden 2012 was a hit around Europe. How did Estonia 2009 around Europe? Italy 1990...?
That's a great sign of quality. The general mainstream audience who vote by first impression usually go for mindless garbage without quality. You just have to turn on the radio to see what I mean.

If songs are superior and so much better because placed high in this game then we maybe should tell EBU to not host ESC anymore. This "amazing" game will be the new ESC. At least you people act like that.
No, you act like that. You're the one who's butthurt because you can't separate one from the other.

Of course it's about the best songs. People vote for what songs they think are the best and Estonia 2009 is the best song according to a lot of people. I wouldn't say it's the best song of all time, but definitely the best of 2009 and definitely one of the best songs of the 2000s.

A song like Estonia 2009 would never win ESC because it's not a mainstream song.

Fairytale is a mainstream song?

Sorry, but I don't think people are voting for the best songs... Actually I had very hard time to find a top 10 from this horrible final.

You know guys... Apart from Stargazer and Nike that are still arguing I feel like a huge party is over, there are popped balloons and confetti "on the floor" and everyone's gone! And now we'll have to wait 6 more months to start again! Such a weird feeling...

But if they can't remember a song after the first impression then it can't be that great??

Fairytale was mainstream enough to appeal to the mainstream audience.

I see you're still having trouble grasping the concept that your personal taste isn't a universal standard that everybody agrees with.

Ha ha ha ha!! What a lame excuse? So only because Fairytale won then it was mainstream enough?? Wohahahahah! Still it isn't a mainstream song and it kicked the ass of your overrated Estonia 2009.

I can seperate them. It's you, Matt and some other people that believe a song is superior because have placed higher than Euphoria, Fairytale ect. The fact is that Euphoria and Fairytale are superior because they won real big deal ESC!!

Fairytale IS more mainstream than Rändajad. It's simple, it's catchy, easy to remember and it's got a cute guy playing the violin. Of course everyone was going to fall for it. I knew it was a sure winner from the start. A song like Rändajad requires a certain appreciation for that kind of music. There are plenty of them out there, that's why it received the points it did. Here on the forum, those people come in a larger percentage (and their taste will therefore become more noticeable in contests like this) because the general audience will not be joining forums like this.

And you still don't understand the meaning of superior, I see. You're making yourself look like a fool for repeating something which has already been explained to you.

You need to look up superior in a dictionary. It means different things.. Superior in this context means that I (and others) think Estonia 2009 surpasses Sweden 2012 in quality and excellence. Obviously Sweden 2012 did better in ESC, no one is saying anything different.

Still lame lame excuse!! Fairytale isn't a mainstream song. So all songs with a cute guy playing a violin will win but not a pretty girl with a violin? Estonia didn't do better because it wasn't that good as some crazy so called ESC fans want it to be!Looooool, btw talking about main stream songs. Why didn't Hungary 2011 do better? It's very main stream?

I know what superior is.... If Estonia 2009 is that superior because it's excellence and bla bla, why didn't it won the jury vote then? You still haven't said WHY you think it's superior. You and Matt are probably very alone aboy it. Most of Europe think Euphoria, Fairytale are superior crappy Estonia..

Oh jeez, the cute guy with a violin was obviously a bonus. It was the memorable, simple and catchy song that did it. Rändajad is not a simple song, nor is it catchy. It's haunting, mystical and beautiful and a lot of people obviously didn't get it. But we do here.

There are lots of mainstream songs in 2011 that didn't win. The song that did win was also very mainstream.

And now we have to come back to taste being subjective. Again. That has also already been explained to you. WE think it's superior because WE think it's more excellent. Just like you DON'T think it's more excellent! I think it's superior because I think it's a better song. That's really all that superior means. End of story.

I see that Stargazer is still having fun xrofl2

Indeed! :D

I voted in almost all of them save one or two.
