I find it sad that Lukas' reaction video is considered hypocritical by some. He's intelligent, thinks about his answers, respects his fellow contestants, gives great judicious comments and constructive criticism, is actually NICE and polite about everything.. it's everything that Eurovision should be about, even more, that everyone pretends and claims Eurovision fandom to be about..
Yet he's called hypocritical and boring. By the same people who defend Benjamin's rude behaviour. It's sad how far we've come.

There's a difference between being honest and bitchy. And there's a difference between blind political correctness and intelligent, caring behaviour.

It's probably better I stop visiting this thread because I lose my faith in the fandom every time. And get super angry. It's unhealthy.

Only a few people talked about Laura last year. Most didnt even notice her comment. Mainly Greeks. But since Benjamin is Swede, everyone wants to bash him.

I don't know, I really feel sorry for him, I mean hype around Sweden this year is level null, and he just didn't need this. Where was his team, how did they let this happen? xgaah I don't know, he will lose many votes this way, at least from fandom, and fandom didn't like his song and dance moves even before this.

Wait what did Koit and Laura say, why I don't know that lmao

Laura said after SF1, that she coudnt believe how Greece and Cyprus went through instead of Iceland and Finland.

She should be more careful because she FAILED to qualify when both of GR and CY managed to do it! And yes both Cyprus and Greece 2017 entries were garbage!
But even with terrible songs Greece and Cyprus were better on stage than Estonia that had a far better song!

I believe Laura was taken out of context, though? Didn't she say that about her own qualifying chances because she thought Finland and Iceland would qualify over Greece and Cyprus? It's hardly a shade. She was hyping Svala's song here and there, so it's not that big of a surprise.

According to the Translation of a Greek:

''This is unexplainable. I am really surprised that countries like Greece and Cyprus went to the final, but Finland did not. Iceland didn't qualify as well, and pretty much all of my favorites stayed in the semi''

Yeah, but if I remember correctly, she said this when she was asked to predict the qualifying chances of Verona. I might be wrong, though, but her point was that it's hard to predict anything.

I'm very late to the party, but I gotta say that I lost so much respect for Ingrosso. Loved his MF entries the past two years, but now I don't feel like hyping him up more.
Not liking songs or even hating them is completely fine, but bullying other acts and putting yourself above everyone else rubd me the wrong way. We don't know the full story, cause maybe Wiwibloggs hyped him up to the moon and created that enviorment, but until we know the story will I try to avoid his music. Ofc most people watching Eurovision will not care or know anything about him and thats why its smart for his team to not mention this again, but I still feel like taking some sort of stand. He went from my second place to off my list completely.

No one's arguing. Just trying to recall what and how she actually said because I sort of remember watching the video.

the point is exactly that this shouldn't be something she needs to be careful about. she is entitled to her own opinions and why can't she make them known? have we learned nothing from silvia night?? (oh wait, greece took her dead seriously lmao. i guess they didn't learn)

same goes for benjamin. he (or laura) didn't even say anything particularly rude about any song. participants of the contest are people like us and it is foolish to expect them to like everything. it's not like laura or benjamin said THE CONTEST WENT TO SHIT like so many previous participants did say.

I don't still get the fuss about it, it his DAMN OPINION, he has right to have it. Alaska49 hit the point right. And I hate the sentence: "Just because he is contestant he should be polite and nice to all the songs!" He shouldn't be human then, basically people expect that, to be fake. Personally, I hate everything that is fake, even contestants. I appreciate him even more now, and he made me laugh with his reactions, I find it hilarious.

P.S. Don't even dare someone to quote me, to tell me that he is bla, bla, bla, stupid talk, I won't change my mind, just because someone think I should lose my respect for Benjamin as an artist, I have my opinion, and let me have it. I am never judgemental towards people in general, and I won't be like that, that is not in my nature, I am caring person. I am giving him second chance, that is all, and that is my right to do.

Silvia Night? LOL I was too young back then and wasn't following the whole thing! I was just watching the shows back then :(

I believe that competitors should avoid saying negative things about other competitors before the consest! And anyway if Benjamin just told his opinion why videos got deleted everywhere?

My own opinion here is kind of in the middle. Benjamin should be allowed to say what he wants about the songs, but at the same time, not everyone has to agree with him, or like him for what he said.

Personally, I didn't much like how he came across in the interview; from what I've seen, he felt smarmy, spoilt and kind of annoying. I'd still vote for him if I liked the song enough, and I'm not going to start going on some anti-Benjamin crusade, but yeah, I'm not the biggest fan of him as a person at this point. At the same time, though, I've got no issues with anyone else liking him, or not having an issue with his personality here. Different strokes for different folks and all that.

What I don't really get is people who defend Benjamin's right to say whatever he wants about the other contestants, but then turn around and tell fans that they can't say whatever they want about Benjamin. Is it supposed to be that Benjamin can make fun of anyone else all he wants, but nobody can call him out as being annoying for doing so? That they have some obligation to like him whatever he does? Because that seems like a bit of a case of double standards to me.

More generally, I guess, I'd say that artists should be free to do or say what they want (to an extent), but that they then shouldn't go and play the victim card when they get bad publicity or people don't like them as a result. You can't have it both ways.
