Re: RUSSIA 2018

If they want to repeat a singer, Sergey Lazarev. If not, I would like to have on ESC either Nikolay Baskov or Zemfira (I know they are very different). But probably this year it would be better Nikolay Baskov because Zemfira would probably be considered a "copy" of Salvador since she also has some physical ways to feel the music on stage (and she also sings intimate songs in the native language).

Well I don't think a country like Russia should send the same artist twice in a row. Sergey sould wait til 2020 or something to try again

Re: RUSSIA 2018

well dima bilan did come back only two years after doing well and then won so there is a precedent

also sergey's comeback would mean IT'S NOT SAMOYLOVA, and he is a delightful human who deserves the best, and he can probably do better than that damn discarded tron scene to the sound of shady lady 2.0 which makes me feel he has unfinished business with this show. i would not be opposed to sergey coming back at all.

Re: RUSSIA 2018

I want a song in Russian (or any minority language), it's got so much more charm.

Russia should play with their cultural background: the song doesn't have to be traditional music-sounding, language would be enough to give it a local flavour and make it sound less plain. Also, if only the Russian broadcasters could stop trying with the same bunch of composers all the time. It would be beneficial for them to trust other less-known local composers to inject modernity and/or freshness into their songs, especially if - as it is expected - they want a second victory.

This! I mention it every year basically, Russia is such a big country with a big language that is spoken not just only in Russia, it also has rich culture and like you mentioned many minority languages and cultures aswell. It's so odd to see these broadcasters who are basically run by a nationalist-fascist "anti-Western" government choosing to do some sort of take on "western" music in English every year, is that supposed to be Russian pride or what?

I would love for an actual Russian entry for a change, doesn't have to be ethno, but something that is not compromising like the stuff they tend to send, and please no more dated generic cheese either? I can understand small countries struggle to find good stuff, but Russia? The biggest country in the contest? I mean all you have is Kirkorov (who mostly does crap) and some random imported Greek producer (forgot the name) or some Melodfesitvalen left-overs? Like really!?

Well, if Russia is going to send Julia Samoilova, it is a plus in their karma, because otherwise it proves that they have lied the whole last year.

God... Even though I used to love her song, it seems to be hugely inappropriate to send her once again.

But if they don't want get sued by her + got a public scandal, then they must fullfit their promice!!

Unless they pay her a large sum of money or some compensation to buy her silence...xshhh

I'm pretty sure, that there will be no legal sue if she isn't sent. Nor a public scandal. There "promise" was directed to the foreign public / EBU. It was never to be taken serious.

Re: RUSSIA 2018

Is there any chance not to see her next year ? Because she is very dreadful and it would be a shame for Russia to show such a bad singer.
