Re: RUSSIA 2018

Is there any chance not to see her next year ? Because she is very dreadful and it would be a shame for Russia to show such a bad singer.

I think Russia is in this to win (or atleast have some sort of revenge), sending this dreadful singer is not going to help them succeed and they know it... they wanted to make a political stunt last year, didn't turn out the way they planned, and eventhough they would try to milk it again in 2018 (IF they'd send her) the effect simply won't be the same when the contest is now in more Russia-friendly territory... so I don't think they'll send her

Im starting more and more to believe that Russia will actually Send Julia S. since sending another Singer would destroy Russias/ Channel1s Reputation even more.
But on the other Side there is also a good chance that the Russian Propaganda-Ministry will find a very very good reason, why she wont participate. I mean they are very good at what they are doing. They sold the "Young, sweet, innocent, cute Girl in the Wheelchair with a childhood-dream"-Story very very well and Tons of Euro-Fans were really really believing it and so will the same Kind of people once again.

About 99% of people who watch Eurovision won't actually care who represents Russia though so their only real obligation is if they have a contract/verbal agreement with Julia herself and if she still wants to go. They don't really owe the fans anything xshrug

No way, Polina didn't win, so Yulia won't do this

Just because one didn't win doesn't mean the other won'tt as well... Eurovision is very unpredictable and surprising which is part of the fun of it (tho there are things that are veeeery predictable and will hardly change)

Re: RUSSIA 2018

I can see her winning ESC, it's not such a far-fetched scenario imo ...

If she offers up anything like Flame is Burning there's not a chance in hell!

In order to win, she has to participate.... something I doubt strongly.

You have to be talented and be able to handle the language youre singing in, in order to win Eurovision.

That's what we needed to point out. Yulia's English skills are terrible and beyond horrendous. There's no way that she can represent Russia without any potential entries, which would be sung in Russian.

Re: RUSSIA 2018

I remember my dissapointment last year when it was like 95% clear for me that Panayotov was going to represent Russia at ESC 2017. I consedered him as a guy without any stage presence at all with vocal but no charisma as well.

...and Channel 1 gives me Samoylova....

If you want to pick someone from the Voice, this girl is so sweet xheart

Re: RUSSIA 2018

So, C1 did not announce Samoilova as the Russian ESC 2018 entrant as expected , but she appeared in their Novy Goda 2018 show with her supposed ESC 2017 song. xrose

Let me quote Schiller here: "Der Mohr hat seine Schuldigkeit getan, der Mohr kann geh'n". (literally: the moor has done his duty, the moor can go; meaning: once you have fulfilled what you were hired for, you can be dismissed)

Damn, I almost forgot how strong her charisma really is, love that video. I just can't stop laughing though when they zoom in to the red square and St. Basils cathedral when she sings "An open window, for love" (starting at 1:59). Love you Russia for giving us the masterpieces of propaganda.

I'm just happy we won't get A Flame Is Burning, because Russia has sent great love love peace peace ballads and the one Samoylova sang didn't really do her justice either. I want something like this:
