Re: RUSSIA 2018

I didn't expect that kind of sound when clicking on the video tbh. I wonder if Russia would dare to send something like that, it's so modern and "now" compared to their usual entries. A well-crafted pop-ish feel-good song could be refreshing.

As Portugal won, they'll most likely send a ballad in Lisbon though (since they've followed the previous winners' steps in recent years).

Whatever they opt for, I hope they'll try something new (or at least unusual for them). By the way, I'm absolutely NOT hyped by the rumours of a potential return of Sergey Lazarev, Russia has other talents that would do the job perfectly and I don't think his style would bring Russia a second victory.

I hope Russia stops sending this unauthentic stuff finally, I'm all for Pop but why not Russian Pop instead of these dated schlager-Pop specifically crafted for Eurovision that has little to do with Russian contemporary Pop?

As for ballad I'm all for it, but if we have to survive yet another crappy Disney ballad about "peace" I don't know what to do  Maybe Portugal winning this time will make them choose something more genuine, hopefully in Russian.

So, Channel One is AGAIN in the charge to send the russian ESC representative as well..

It's mean that Yuliya Samoilova will go to ESC 18 after all?

I don't think we will see Yulia in Lisbon. Once again Russia did not officially announce its participation but where just found on the final list (like last year), so they want to keep all their options, which is fair enough. But if they really thought about her representing Russia, we would have already heard about, I suppose. But I could be wrong.

Just like Austria usually sent modern and cool songs on German.

Every year here we have same stories

If was RTR in the charge of select the russian representative this year then she won't go for ESC for sure, but as Channel One is again in the lead of the selection then is more likely that they will send her to ESC after the situation happened last year, otherside then Yuliya could put a lawsuit against the channel, cause it's ovious to her that she was used just to damage her image reputation as singer and to another country too.

Re: RUSSIA 2018

In the recent web-conference Yuliya said that the songs aren't even ready yet. + she said that she doesn't know if she's gonna be selected but in a few minutes after that she said that she's going to ESC ... mess.

a lawsuit? on what juridical basis? to my knowledge there is no law that punishes manipulation of a singer - not even in Russia. Moreover - not sending her does by no means damage her reputation.

But surely Samoilova signed a contract with Channel One and EBU acrediting her as the russian reprsentative, and Channel One publicly committed to her in case of not being able to participate in Eurovision 17, sending her the following year. If C1 terminates the commitment without reaching an agreement with Yuliya, then she could sue them for damages and prejudices since they selected her without warning her the consequences that her concert trip to Crimea in 2015 will bring in a negative way .

You really think that she signed a contract that she is the safe Representer of Russia 2018? I think that was only a "promise" from C1 and there was nothing written.

I think so, cause otherside she then give up her chances to be in ESC, and plus C1 is a federal channel who fullfit their principles ;)

That not mean nothing, cause i think that Samoilova´s composers team from last ESC, will be the same who will wirte her next ESC song.

Well, it seems that Julia won't take part this year anyway.

It's been 5 years but I still occasionally listen to that song at times. I don't even know if these two are still a thing, but I would like to see them representing Russia with such song at some point.

I really dont want miss Samoloyova to represent Russia. She is so frightening. What would her song be called? Left Outside Alone?

I want miss Lady Gaga Gogo Miss Polina Gagarina to come back!

Re: RUSSIA 2018

You think Russia brings quality to Eurovision?

Russia has sent fantastic songs lately. In my book they should've won 2015 and 2016
