Booohooo. She's in a wheelchair and has a dream. Boooohoooooo.
Her disability has nothing to do with this and you know it.

Her dream was to be in Eurovision. She got what she wanted. A nightmare is a dream too, isn't it? ;)

She's a disabled woman who grew up in the USSR. Do you know how many obstacles she has had to come to even have the chance to sing? Literally, the fact you are openly celebrating the demise of a disabled woman who has overcome potential hell and back to be on the Eurovision stage is a disgusting reflection on your own personal character. The ableism is far too much. Have some sensitivity and decency, and respect how monumental Julia's participation at ESC may be for those who aren't as lucky to be as able bodied as you presumably are.

Can we at least agree that the last shot from the backstage at the postcard recordings video, with Yulia staring at the ocean with her husband, was absolutely beautiful and heartbreaking?
I don't like the atmosphere that's evolving here :/

Yeah man ... what's even going on? This thread used to be (a lot of) fun. I guess we can all agree that this is obviously a deserved non-qualification but she still deserves some respect ... it's not like she's some kind of mass-murderer or anything.

1) The song and vocal were Not Excellent (TM), and it probably didn't deserve a spot in the top 10.
2) The Russian presence at Eurovision does a certain level of harm (years since a Eurovision without a Russian delegation shit fit: 4, and I can't imagine it won't be 5 now; fear levels re: going to an ESC in Russia as an LGBT fan: astronomical), and I somewhere between understand and have the catharsis that comes with seeing them NQ.
3) Not all of that has to be directed at Yulia herself, who didn't ask to be given a song she very much could not sing nor to be the standard bearer for some of the crap the Russian delegation does.
4) NONE of that should be directed at her ability status. Don't be dicks.
5) I have zero qualms about thinking all of that at once.

Are you telling me that you never screwed up something at your job?

Probably you did.

Was it in front of almost 200 million viewers? Probably not.

That's the difference. The dimension is different. If I screw at my job I would probably laugh. If I screwed in front of 200 million viewers I would probably never leave me bed again.

How many singers who have appeared in Eurovision so far forgot to sing their song during the performance? There have been over 1500 songs so far. Blanche was very nervous last year too but she never forgot that she was there to sing. I think Yulia forgot it because she wasn't really singing but just opening her mouth for the cameras. The backing vocals were singing by themselves instead of just backing her.

Stop exploiting her disability. The only thing she has learned from growing up in the USSR is to support the Soviet flag and what it stands for. Despicable, if you ask me.

Surely if she forgot to open her mouth and was miming, the sound would still keep coming??

She was just seen with the Soviet flag, so at least she supports one. Not the same, of course, but let's not forget that either.

For what exactly?

Oh I'm sorry dude but my parents taught me that every human being deserves at least some basic respect. Not even taking her personal story into account here ...
As I said, she's not some kind of mass-murderer or terrorist or dictator ... she's a random artist who happened to represent "the wrong country" in the Eurovision Song Contest.
Have y'all been raised by hyenas or what? :?

I quite liked the performance and I thought it would qualify, but it was definitely borderline - as I said before, I expect this would finish 8th-12th. There are definitely worse Russian entries in the past that have managed to get through.

I think Yulia tried her best and I liked the dancers.

I am just disappointed by that whole blue carpet thing, which ruined the entry for me.

Didn't it? I didn't notice the performance suddenly sounding better in this moment. I have to rewatch it, I guess. :D

No, but...
- she damaged the Brand "Eurovision"
- She Damaged Ukraines Reputation
- ESC lost 20 Mio Views last year because she destroyed lots Fans their Anticipation
- Ukraine had to pay 200K Euros because they didnt want to break their own Law and give up their Sovereignity towards Russia and the Crimea a little bit more
- She is a really Bad Singer and not nearly enough for an Event like this. Maybe for a Karaoke-Evening.

Btw. Im no Russophobic but Objective and Neutral as always.
Im so sorry for the Russian Eurofans who experienced 2 experienced years in a Row.
Me as a German knows how it feels.

Sure, if they come with something like "You're the only one" I will be rooting for :ru: once again!

Y'all think people hate this ONLY because it's Russia or because of Julia herself? Delusional. :?

The entire Russian thread in this Eurovision-season is a scientific proof that hyenas are capable to communicate with keyboards. Even if I don't support the Russian entry this year, Yulia does not deserve the blame. Even if she's agreed to take part,Yulia just followed head of delegations orders like anyone else would have done. Think about it, everyone...

They won't come with a overproduced cliche like this.. But i remember how after Tolmachevy Twins where bulliyed and booed in 2014, and next year people almost end up crying when Polina Gagarina almost take the trophy in Vienna in front of LGBT audience!

That its called the Karma is a Bitch! For this i hope that people don't take Samoilova's elimination as joy.

Let me (as a history student) tell you this: You are not objective and neutral. You are biased and so is the rest of us. The arguments you've just listed here might be your truth and your reality (and I can even see myself agreeing to some of them to an extent) but that doesn't make them facts. Your perception is highly influenced by your personal beliefs and by a certain political narrative - that's normal. I can assure you though that it's not more (or less) valid than other perceptions.
