What does that mean? That it's delayed? Unless they drop it tomorrow, it means they'll drag this on then :?

Willam's twit Tsegaye was talking about was published on 5th, so I guess that today or tomorrow, Yulia will release her song. Anyways, deadline is here. They will all have to release their songs soon.

I want something new ((
But I hope that the ballad will be powerful and beautiful. Then I will be happy.

I just remembered I really love her song last year - flame is burning..
She should deliver a song at par with that or better..

"With a strong core". This'll have nothing to do with "Flame Is Burning" then?

Finally someone saying that he/she also liked her last year's song. I also liked it. Especially prechorus, it was so melodic, and the melody actually stuck in your head for hours. xlove

I am still hoping for some super great Slavic traditional ballad, you know, with music that hunts you and at the same time gives you chills and thrills xyes

Yes xheart It was the fourth best song last year in my book. I would have preferred it to be sung in Russian, but apart from that, the melody and harmonies were so great and - in my opinion - as "catchy" as a ballad can be. It was an earworm. Some time ago, I found and posted a piano cover of it that showcased perfectly how beautiful and elaborate the composition was.

The melody was superbly building all the way until the chorus. It was not a bad chorus, but it definitively did not match the beauty of everything that came before. Anyways, one question for you tuorem, as you have much better ear for music than I do. I was asking myself if this music wasn't perhaps taken from somewhere. It sounded soooo familiar, as if I heard it already before. Do you have any clue perhaps?

I know what you mean, but it didn't remind me of a particular song. The melody and arrangements are probably similar to many Russian-penned ballads though, as they tend to have the same construction and harmonic preferences. I couldn't give you examples right off the bat, but I sure heard songs like that one from other Russian singers. Was it inspired by another song? I couldn't tell. xthink

I guess you know more about the Russian music scene overall than I do actually. :)

But didn't they say it was in english? If so, we can exclude this.

I just love how it's intrinsically melancholic and nostalgic, yet filled with glimmers of hope. It's so Russian somehow. xheart
I find it so fascinating that abstract concepts like these can be translated into music notes. The lyrics clearly weren't the best, but the theme was spot on imo: it had to be a song about hope and resilience.

Re: RUSSIA 2018 - Yulia Samoylova

Since it's confirmed now that it will be in English, I think we can rule out "Russian folk" and it seems they are sticking to the original idea of sending a disaster entry a la "Flame is Burning"... that's sad, I was being hopeful for a day...
