@ Terry
Terry, Jessica is an example over 10 years old.

If you look to more recent Eurovisons, such as 2008, 2009, 2010, 2011 and 2012, where have all the winner's come from? that's right, from 17 - 24.
And let's look at how the early entries went:

2008 - Romania, UK, Albania all bombed. Same story a year later in 2009 with Lithuania and Israel. Even France did badly - only the jury helped Patricia out. In 2010, Azerbaijan, the great hope to beat Germany came 5th - and again, her televotes were not that great. Then there's Spain and poor Didrik who came 23rd. In 2011, Paradise Oskar met an early defeat, as did Kati Wolf. Only Dino's fame in the Balkans helped him out. Last year now, in 2012, Englebert bombed, along with Compact Disco. Given that their songs weren't 'winner' material, their draw certainly didn't help them in any way either.
I think that all of these songs (accept Safuras, its a masterpiece) had no chance against the others. 2008: Romanias ballad was just weird, Albania was pretty ok but a bit boring and UK was horrible as always. 2009: Lithuania was just LUCKY they qualified from that semi final. Israel did not stand out from the other songs. In 2010 Safura sure did get robbed but Didriks song was pretty bad too. In 2011 a ballad opened the show and that is pretty bad, Kati Wolfs performance was pretty bad and they actually would have pulled out a better show if they wanted to win. In 2012 Compact Disco had pretty low odds and Engelbert could never compete in one of the hardets finals ever.

I love Petra Mede, and I love the butterflies in the postcard. I wasn't expecting much after Baku 2012, since Azerbaijan's design were heavily influenced by Germany's in 2011. But this was a nice surprise - especially at 4:30 am in the morning here! It has a similar feeling to the Melodifestivalen you guys have every year :)

I like it too! It feels like they have given new life in this competition, Petra is not fake like the hosts last year and I think that the bracelets that is given to the audience is really cool!

I must say that I get so happy when that butterfly with the anthem shows up, its so cool xlove

They are just trying to pull of a good show, common, do you really think that the old way is the best? Where a ballad might open the show and all of the tempo songs might end up first and all ballads last? The old rule made Montenegro open the show in 2012 and a ballad that opened the second semi final and another ballad that opened the final! As in 2011 a ballad opened the final as in 2009 a pretty slow song opened the final too. A show should never be opened with a ballad.

And performing first does not hurt a country's chance, in 2003 Sertab won with #4 and the song that got most televotes in 2011 went out as #7. The song that got most 12 points in 2011 went out as #2

And for me I don't care what starting position a country has, I vote for the best one.

'' This is so un-democratic and its so corrupted! take a look at last year and tell me this year is corrupted. This year has been the best Eurovision ever.

Wow you are two times delusionnal.

Firstly, In terms of countries there is no doubt Sweden is more democratic than Azerbaijan. No one in their right mind would contradict me there.

In terms of Eurovision, Azerbaijan's eurovision brodcaster was much more fair than Sweden's. They didn't try to organize a draw just for them & Turkey getting the more chances to do well and just follow the past traditions.

Secondly, trying to argue you can easily win from whichever draw is pointless, we know there is some killing draws and it's better to be at the end rather than to be in the beggining.

You mentionned Eric Saade and Dino doing well but they could've maybe won with a better draw and there are one of few examples in a sea of horrible placing and bottom 5.

And Sertab was fabulous and yet she needed all the friendly votes she could get to win. And she was very lucky that her condition was two bad singers who couldn't seduced the older audience and untypical esc song & that crap song like Estonia 2001 or Latvia 2002 wasn't at the end of the show or she would've lost hands down.

When is the first commercial break? Other than that, I'm not worried. I think we got a decent position, again.

And what is the exact reason EBU gave to justify abandoning the random draw?
I really have no idea. I would be more happy with the random draw too. I guess they want to create an exciting finale, with the top countries being very close

I hope that Cezar will get a pretty good place.

Im looking forward to a good show and an exciting voting.

If :ro: wins this year then next year the 14th position will win again and as TVR will decide the placings, then :md: will get 14th next year and win!

Also, if this happens I demand :ro: to be part of a BIG 7 as we can help the bookmakers place make their odds depending on us

The draw is just ridiculous. This is not "de-clustering", it's "let's decide where to put Denmark in the best position". Look at Azerbaijan too. How much did they pay to get #20?

Oh, God. Is it our fault again? Invent smt new plz and blame those who are respinsible for this rule.

Re-watch the finals from 2006 and 2012 and then you'd know why.
What do those finals in particular have to do with the draw being abandoned?

The running of the first songs was terribly off-putting and apparently led to many viewers switching off. As far as I remember they give this as a reason for 2012.

No one through that producers already know the results of semifinals and specially gave bad draw for some entries which could be a danger for Denmark and Norway? For example Moldova, Finland, Russia, Greece, Ireland? xthink

Greece have an excellent draw and whether starting from the last position is a disadvantage is highly debatable (1999, 2000, 2001, 2004, 2006, 2007, 2008, 2010, 2011 were all in Top-10).

Moldova actually had some issues with SVT and the organization during their rehearsals. And look what they got! Bonnie was really screwed up with the draw.

So, is the rule for #14 still valid for next year or is Romania winning this?

I'm guessing/hoping it means that the rule passes on to next year, like this is just a place-holder for now!
