I had no problem with the idea of ensuring that similar entries don't cluster. However, this could have been done by choosing an order of the songs presentation to avoid clustering, but not specifying when in the actual show they perform. A random draw could determine the first performance, and then all the other entries would perform in the decided order afterwards.

I.e. producers decide they want a song order of 'ABCDEF'. D is then drawn to perform first, so the entries perform in the order 'DEFABC' (with 26 entries of course).

In all fairness, there should have been a random draw.

I demand a return to random draw!

It's already apparent that this is not a good system, it's highly undemocratic and non-transparent...

Well, Germany happens to be between the two worst entries in the final (well in the whole ESC edition this year I'd add)... so imo it's a good thing.

The draw is just ridiculous. This is not "de-clustering", it's "let's decide where to put Denmark in the best position". Look at Azerbaijan too. How much did they pay to get #20?

Looking at the selection that was made tonight, it looks really good for us! I know we won't win, and as much as I'd love if we did, I'd be so mad if we did. Norway have a great position, and I hope it pushes them to victory. Bit worried for Moldova tho, considering they have to come before DINGDONGDINGDONGATTENTIONSEEKINGDINGDONGDINGDONG, they mightn't do as well as they should, but putting Spain before Belgium is great, should be great news for ESDM!

I know right? I knew stuff like this would happen... xshrug

We need the old draw-system back really...

Well if you do a little statistics, everyone outside of 1-3 and 6-8 and songs just after the break all have decent chances of doing well enough to win the televotes.

But If you want to be realistic, it took an incredibly singer with a very strong song and performance and having all their friends voting that night for Turkey to get 167 points and win with 26 voters at number 4 in 2003. And Sertab was lucky it was non-typical esc song who got the people attention at the end, because any uptempo song who pleased the public in 19-26 that night would've walk away with the trophy easily .

So you can probably say that being 10-26 is at least almost essential.

By the way shouldn't we organize a massive protest on Friday on the eurovision website.

I'm so glad I actually like Denmark, have it in my top 10 and the fanboys aren't hyping this as much as say (Norway/Netherlands) or as they could so I'm not as furious or angry about all this blatant behind the scenes corruption as I probably should be. I really just don't care anymore this is probably the most corrupt Eurovision ever. xshrug And to think the fanboys were constantly trashing every minor detail of Moscow and Baku.

I just hope my personal favorites get some decent results and don't bomb too badly despite everything they have going against them. Of course no matter how hard I try its going to hurt. :(

So, 2 things to have been learned tonight.

1. Denmark has just won Eurovision.
2. France is fucked.

Poor Amandine, what a great song as well.

Denmark between the massive hits of televoters

If a song is good enough, it wins, and then it doesn't matter how many hits they're sandwiched in between. If Emmelie ends up winning it shouldn't be because of a favorable draw, so I'm glad she'll be put to the ultimate test.

My personal opinion is that 18th is a perfect draw. I really wanted us to avoid positions 23-26 as it seems to be the time when average viewers get bored and start paying less attention to the show. 18th is just early enough to be fully paid attention to, but still late enough to be memorable. I couldn't be happier.

It seems as SVT is trying to make this a close race. Russia, Germany & the Netherlands are the three favorites from the first half and they all were placed closer to the end of the draw. And then all of the favorites from the second half are all pretty much placed 18 or later...........

Wouldn't it have been wise if they performed 7th or 12th? I really don't know why the running order is important, it should always depend on the song and performance itself. I mean 80% of the semi finalists always end up at the bottom. The whole first and second half don't even mean squat! That's my personal opinion...

Don't hesitate to show your unhapiness on the Eurovision website, it's getting good there

I would've loved if SVT had had the balls to put Russia among the first three entries. Oh my, the drama...

You're probably right, but by changing the rules and deciding on the draw themselves the producers are bound to experience massive backlash and accusations of bias (which I think are justified, Denmark ending up on the position which is statistically the most likely to produce a winner? Come on).

If this goes unnoticed, it will only be because broadcasters are glad that audience numbers have rised. But ESC fans will be fucked because they'll know the show is rigged.

Really? Because it seems to be that SVT are handing an easy victory to Denmark. I don't see how anything can stop it now. While I'm happy that Denmark is in a good position, I am less than happy about how it happened.
