I understand Robins point, but in my eyes he makes it seem like Salvador was talking directly about him or the other contestants music in this contest, which I doubt is what Salvador did or meant.

Salvador basically talked of the music industry in general. He developed this thought further on in the press conference. It was not about any song in particular. Let alone any artist featured on ESC. He didn't single anyone out.

But i think it's funny how Robin took it to heart and assumed that remark was meant for him...

Oh come! Salvador never attacked anyone! He was clearly talking about the music industry that butches everything that it isn't commercial music. Robin is just a sore loser.

Also, as far as I can see, he has liked comments in the same post where people wrote stuff like: "Your song was best, you should have won..." etc. He just seems salty in my eyes, but idk. Can't really judge that based on one instagram post.

Don't get me wrong, I adore Salvador and I was over the moon about him winning the whole thing BUT I have to say Robin has indeed a point. There is a place for all kinds of music in this world. To each his own.
I ofc get where Salvador was coming from but it shouldn't come as a surprise that a lot of people are offended by a statement like that. His timing was just pretty damn bad.

Robin is right. It's not in Salvador's place to judge what is real music and what is not.

I remember another interview of Salvador, where he said that all the songs in Eurovision are the same,
so basically yes he meant exactly most of the other competitors.

Salvador's words, yet partially true, were unfortunate. But we need to know:

1- He's frank and spontaneous. Maybe too much.
2- He still has a very traumatic memory from the pop talent show he took part years ago, where they tried to convert him into someone he didn't want. I think it's his own experience who is talking on his behalf.

He didn't say all of them were the same. He's said countless times that he likes Italy, Belgium and Finland.

And a lot of songs this year did sound the same so he's not exactly wrong.

In other news....

I'm really happy with the amounts of version of Amar pelos Dois. Since the majority of people don't speak Portuguese anyone can make this music his/her own. I love that, and honestly, I think this music will be one of the most well-known Eurovision contest songs of all times.

I think we need to be careful when referring to content expressed from Salvador's Interviews because there is a big danger of taking the information out of context.
For example, there are interviews given when Salvador hasn't even heard anything from Eurovision and Interviews and when Salvador finally has some exposure and understanding of the contest. So of course, if he is asked a question about Eurovision when he has heard little of the songs, he would draw from his less than positive experience of the music industry in general and of his idol experience. If you have never heard of Eurovision songs before, you will start to listen first from a small circle of songs. Because there are so many, you will notice that from a musical perspective, many songs at first will have a similar trend of rhythm and bass. It is only as you listen to more songs, that one is exposed to more diverse songs.

Between the period after FdC to before the semi-finals, he has expressed that he feels very bittersweet towards the Eurovision experience, as radio stations and venues which have repetitively rejected him are now welcoming him with open arms. In other words, he speaks from the experience of knowing the difficulties of being a musician artist befor people recognise and start to notice you.

End point: we can't assume that the Salvador who has been in previous interviews has the same feelings and knowledge that he has now. He is still learning as he goes how to cope with the overall experience.

Okay, enough is enough!!!

1) He did say that Eurovision songs sound all the same. That's true. But what Salvador said is most likely what the majority of people in Portugal think (those outside the ESC bubble). He hadn't even watch the competition, so he said it out of ignorance. Was it right for him to say that? No. But...

2) Salvador would eventually say that he liked Italy, Belgium and Finland. He even covered those songs. Which means that his views were wrong, and he admitted it. He actually said that he wanted Italy to win.

3) Salvador's statement was a reference to music in general. Did you see how he thanked and clapped to the other contestants after they announced that he had won? He didn't think that he was superior to the other contestants, not at all.

4) Yesterday the RTP representative actually said that Salvador was worried about his speech, because he didn't mean to offend the other contestants.

So here you go. That's all.

I really hope so. Maybe in time, people will recognise that it is as beautiful as songs like 'My Heart will Go On', 'Moon River', and the classic Disney songs like 'Beauty and the Beast'. I also hope that future movie directors will ask for his involvement in movie soundtracks. That would be awesome. His voice is instantly recognisable!

and people keep dissecting everything he says or does. c'mon people, he is a musician, not a politician or a music critic! So listen to his song if you like it but don't mind what he says!

If everyone share the same ideas, the world would be a very boring place. He has his own opinion about eurovision, we have ours, people just love to blow everything out of proportion lol give it a rest! at the end of the day, he is still the winner and the ones criticizing are seen as very sore losers.

and the Portuguese press is already reporting about his supposed "girlfriend" and stuff about his grandmother!!! it's so sad.
