I'm very sad about Portugal's withdrawal and Poland's absence one more year! At least I'm waiting for confirmation about Slovakia. I hope that Slovakia will participate again! :(

The Ps... They've always been one of my faves. :pt: withdrawing after 45 years of participation and not even one top 5 is the saddest part about it. :(

xcry

Generally a sad day for Eurovision, certainly these new idiotic corrupt 'producers choosing the order' rules aren't helping either as it makes the contest loose even more legitimacy :(

I feel sorry for Portugal, often underrated but they have never given up. They were one of the most genuine countries, sending entries in native language most of the times unlike others, often staying true to local sounds throughout their ESC history... I hope they will comeback !!!

xcry

I just cross my fingers that Slovakia will stay afterall and not withdraw aswell.

Well there goes chances for a record year now for sure xcry

To be honest, Portugal did the best for itself. So did Poland (after Magdalena's result). I support both them.

As I already said today....bye bye record next year:( sorry to hear and know that but it is not totally unexpected....
So, "alea iacta est" - about ESC 2013: I am watching only the semifinal we will participate in and a final.

Andy has updated ESCKaz. He says Slovenia and Romania have not decided anything yet and are having difficulties with funding. So they are the other two along with Slovakia. He also mentions most wiki confirmation sources are mainly BS as they are based on the assumption that if they were in last year they will the next. Unless the selection is underway in some way they are the only ones that can be counted as confirmed for 2013

It was the same 'rumor' about Romania last year, but turned out untrue. I really hope we won't get any more withdrawals now, too much already!! xcry

In the end Romania got the acts to pay in towards the NF to make up the funds. They may try the same but I doubt it will go down well with record companies. Plus they got a reduction in fees and a sponsor. I doubt it will be allowed again.

Now we see how the Euro crises messes up with Eurovision....so sad for Portugal xcry

It's really sad that unique countries which add a lot of flavour and diversity to the contest are withdrawing, but the voting blocks of former countries are always and consistently in.

Yes it's true Rajo......these withdrawals are the negative effect of it, I would like for "voting blocks of the former countries" to split up and disappear but seems it is not possible:( and withdrawals might continue.....
