Yes, he's back. I just couldn't resist, after recently coming to the realization that Mr. Cronin is my favourite artist alive (apologies to Mr. Vile and Ms. Plaschg). I did a rush job 3 song NF for Mikal last time I was with Pacific, just to make sure I was making the right choice. I really needed nudging. I was so terrified that edition. Now I want to share with you more of this mans music. Six songs I hope you will enjoy here. Two familar songs to those who voted in the previous NF. The ridiculously infectious garage rock treat, "Weight", and the achingly beautiful "V) Different", a poignant, haunting track with just strings and Mikal's sincere vocals. Joining them are "Better Man", a recent discovery for me is this one. I thought I had heard every Cronin song there was to hear, but oh my goodness, gosh.. I was floored when watching a mini documentary about Mikal and this started playing at the end. It's a track he recorded especially for an Adult Swim compilation album entitled "Garage Swim". Needless to say I was slain that night. I'd put this right at the top with his very best tracks. "Peace of Mind" is a gorgeous melancholic country tinged track that shows off a very different side of Mikal's music. "Turn Away" is a song that has only more recently jumped out at me. Mikal is the climax king and this song has gotta have his best climax.... ever. The build to it is incredible and oh gosh, that sweet, sweet pay off. This one is colossal. Last but not certainly least we have "Piano Mantra", a song that almost made it into my previous NF. Have some patience with this one. It builds to something humongous and could very well snap a heart or three in two. It closes his album "MCII". Quite possibly his most moving piece.
